I was here for the $79 omakase with my partner and we loved every bite. It wasn’t crowded so it felt like we had the counter to ourselves. The service was great and the chef Sasaki was quiet, but friendly and explained every piece. My absolute favorite pieces were the otoro and the hirame with shiso leaf, but everything was divine and fresh. The matcha ice cream was delicious and they decorated for my birthday. Worth the price. The Jasmine cocktail was great for a strawberry lover but too sweet for me.

My hubby and I dined at Nomonomo and sat at their sushi bar to enjoy their omakase and we were absolutely blown away! Sasaki San was our sushi chef and he did a phenomenal job. Our server Chris provided excellent service for us throughout the night and also mentioned that the majority of the fish that they use is imported from Japan. We could definitely taste the quality! It was a 12 course omakase and some stand outs for me were the Ebi Shirmp, Salmon with smoked foie gras, and the Fatty Toro. We also got their sake pairing which was $45 per person which we highly recommend. The last sake pairing in particular was a treat — it was a pet nat style sparkling sake by the brand called Matsuri.

We ended off our meal with a matcha green tea ice cream with toasted rice krispies. It was the perfect palate cleanser and a great way to end off our meal. We have enjoyed our fair share of omakase in the past, and Nomonomo did not disappoint! Definitely check them out if you’re looking to enjoy an omakase dinner at a reasonable price for the quality that you get. We will be back!

I called Nomonomo to place on order over the phone for pick up. The hostess told me they no longer accept orders for pickup over the phone since they’ve had issues with people calling in orders and not picking them up. The only way they accept pick up orders is through online ordering which I thought was quite weird. So I ordered through uber eats and it said it would be ready in 20 min. I arrived to pickup the order to find out someone had just called in a $600 order ahead of me and I had to wait while the restaurant was completely empty. I waited and finally got my food. I ordered salmon avocado roll, tekka roll, tuna avocado roll, and crunchy shrimp roll. I thought the prices were a bit steep but the sushi to rice ratio was very generous. Overall the quality was very good and I would return if I was in the area. They just need to tighten up their pickup system.

The food here is absolutely phenomenal, probably the most authentic Japanese experience you can get in Chicago right now. It’s one of the very few restaurants I find myself returning to again and again. Truly one of the city’s most underrated spots. Highly recommend.

Instead of going to a tried & true, we decided on checking out a new place. 4.5 star out of 90 reviews, should be pretty decent, we thought. The interaction we experienced both on the phone & in person with the male host was strange. Then once we sat, the server came by to our table & silently poured water, ignoring our greeting. She barely smiled, wasn’t welcoming or helpful & it was clear she didn’t want to be there. She checked on us once after we received our food. The food was wayyy overpriced for what we got. Nothing wowed us, and the sushi rice was overly vinegared & our aburi would fall apart due to the rice not being properly prepared. The booziest cocktails we picked were a little on the sweet side. No ambiance, tables are too close together, almost like diner seating. I’d never go back or recommend this place. Too many good sushi restaurants in Chicago to waste hard-earned money here.

Good Value, Fresh Fish, Affordable Omakase

12 courses for $79 is a good deal. I enjoyed every single course. It came with different sauces different toppings. Each cut of the fish is big and thick unlike other omakase places, their cut is so thin and tiny piece. You can taste the real flavor of the fish.

There are so many pieces!
Aburi hotate is amazing with a good torched smell and sweetness from scallop.
Botan Ebi is huge. I think it’s the biggest one I ever had
Akami Foie Gras is melting in your mouth.
Uni and Ikura bowl is superb
They are so good. I have to double order them.

Here also offer happy hour menu. I took advantage of it by ordering oysters, cocktails and hamachi Kama. Oysters are yummy but sauce is too salty for me.

Also ordered wagyu flat iron from robata. Wagyu itself is soft and tender but sauce is a little too salty for me.

I love the atmosphere and decoration. It is nice and clean.
Overall I really enjoy the food here. Definitely be back soon.

It was my first time dining at Nomonomo, but not the last! My server, Kayla was very sweet and friendly. They were incredible host! I got Matcha from their menu and it was fantastic, additionally some nigiri and two classic rolls with shrimp tempura and salmon & spicy mayo. I think manager was on duty (or maybe the owner?) who was older Asian gentleman. Incredibly polite and friendly. The restaurant had great ambience and the interior design was top! I wish it was closer to me!

This place in Logan Square is a true standout for anyone seeking high-quality, authentic Japanese flavors without the pretense of some downtown spots. I’m always looking for that perfect balance of atmosphere and execution, and this place nails it.
The fish quality is exceptional—the

Bluefin Chu Toro practically melts in your mouth. For something more adventurous, the Artmex Maki and the Surf + Turf (with lobster and US wagyu) offer a fantastic explosion of flavors. If you’re a fan of spicy elements, the Yuzukosho Karaage has a wonderful kick, and their Mentaiko Udon is a savory, briny delight that’s hard to find done this well elsewhere in Chicago.

The interior is stunning yet warm, making it an ideal spot for a quiet dinner or a more celebratory omakase experience. Whether you’re stopping in after a ride along the 606 or planning a detailed night out, the attentive service and beautifully plated dishes make it a must-visit. It’s a neighborhood gem that feels like a “rockstar” secret.
