We started with handmade rice balls bathed in vodka sauce, crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and absolutely NOT here to play. Shrimp Alla NOLA’s accompanied, delivering bold, soulful flavor while the wings showed range: buffalo bringing the heat, lemon pepper bringing the ‘tude!
Then came the pizza….a beautiful commitment issue solved perfectly: half sausage, half pepperoni cups. Thin, flavorful and balanced like it went to therapy. EVERY bite understood the assignment. Just when we thought we were done, dessert said “not so fast!” Nutella Zeppoli Bombs…warm homemade Zeppolis stuffed with Nutella; arrived and ended ALL remaining self-control. Light, rich, and worth every nap you’ll need afterward. Honorable mention to the wonderful staff that were attentive, warm, and moving like a well-rehearsed orchestra. Extra gratitude to owner Robert Spagnola, who graciously accommodated our party without reservations and made us feel like family from the moment we walked in.
NOLA’s isn’t fast food. It’s feed-your-soul food. Come hungry, come patient, and leave planning your return!!! #OldWorldItallian #WorthTheWait #SupportLocalEats #FoodieFinds
The food was pretty good. I asked the waitress for a recommendation about what most people order and I was told the Grandma pie called the Nonna I believe. I also asked for a recommendation between the chicken Parm and the chicken Milanese and I was directed toward the Milanese. The chicken Milanese was delicious with a great salad on top and I’m really glad I got it. Would get it again in a heartbeat. The person I was with got the francese and seemed to like it as well, though the pasta seemed a little Al dente. The pizza was not to our personal liking. I usually love Grandma Pies, but this one didn’t hit the mark for me. I think the sauce must have had red pepper flakes in it because we both found it a little spicy for our taste- but when we brought home the leftovers our husbands both liked how spicy it was. I just wish the description on the menu mentioned the spice level and we would have picked a different pie. Also, it came out well after our entrees so we were relatively full by the time it showed up, I wish they had timed it better to show up before the food or with it.
The restaurant itself was a little chaotic. The restaurant seems to do a ton of takeout orders- totally normal for dinner on a Saturday at a pizzeria but it made for a slightly unpleasant dining experience. It would get crowded and loud and have people carrying tons of pizzas around you out the door. I could see certain people in my life not enjoying that kind of ambiance, though it didn’t bother me too much.
Overall I would definitely come back. I would like to try a few more types of pizzas and I need to have another serving of their chicken Milanese. Just might plan to come at a less busy time and do more research about which pizza I order.
We recently ordered some entrees Chicken Francese, Drunken Chicken Parm and Chicken Oreganata, all 3 were amazing and plentiful.
It was a no brainer that we ordered from Nola’s for our Super Bowl Party, all our guest asked where we ordered from.
Valentine’s Day was recently another no brainer the we were ordering Nolas.
I always see them on Instagram, showing new pizza and entree specials. Looking forward going and sitting down to have dinner. Also a plus is it’s a BYOB.
Thanks again Nolas !
Also have to mention the owner — genuinely a really good guy. Friendly, welcoming, and you can tell he cares about quality and his customers. Definitely recommend and I’ll be coming back.
The Warrior Pan Pie, Justins Special, and the Drunkin Nonna Square Pie were the favorites. All excellent. Nola’s continues to be a pizza gem in the entire state. Keep up the great work!
Last week I reached out directly to Marc, the owner, as I’ve done in the past being a loyal repeat customer. My wife and I were hosting a get together at our house yesterday and needed to place an order. Sadly, we needed the order to be picked up before their usual business hours. Marc immediately offered to have his guys come in a bit early just to accommodate our order. When I got there yesterday for pick up, I was greeted warmly and offered an espresso on the house while I waited. What an experience! There are plenty other businesses in this area who would not do this, ever. Marc appreciates the support and loyalty and it truly shows. Of course everything was a major hit with our guests as well.
You can pizza many other places, even in the former Nola’s location coincidentally. What you can’t get is treated like family. Thank you Marc, Steve, and the entire crew!
