We came in 1 hour before closing and the staff was very nice & accommodating. The chips and salsa were great. Food came out fast and was delicious. Best Mexican food I’ve had all year. Would definitely come back if I’m in the area.

I have yet to find such an exceptional dining experience in Lake Charles. Not once, but 4 times over the course of a year Nogal blew all expectations out of the water. Service, cuisine, value, atmosphere…. Everything is consistently excellent. I would absolutely pay $40+ for their molcajete, but they only charge around $20 which blows my mind being that it could feed my whole family…. Try it out, and enjoy! (It would be a mistake to not order the street corn)

I got the carne asada plate which comes with a supposed to be chicken habanero enchilada. Why would anybody make that with a sweet sauce and not put actual habanero in there. No spice whatsoever. Another thing is sitting outside on the patio being that close to the water and not having anything to block the wind, no screens at all. I had to hold the chip bowl down so it didn’t blow away. Eventually we had to move inside. Also I ordered sopapillas and the menu does not tell you that it comes with this disgusting chocolate drizzle from Hershey’s. So they had to take that off of my check. When I first got my plate the food was cold so I had to send that back. The only thing good about the place was the waitress, Isabella. She was wonderful. And let’s talk about the green salsa that they put sugar in or something. Why would anybody make a salsa sweet? I’m just so disappointed in this place. I had higher expectations. I’ve traveled a lot and never have I come across anything like this. I don’t know if they thought they were doing something out there and different but they did something disgusting

We had the shrimp cocktail and the habanero cream enchiladas. The food came out pretty quick. The enchiladas came with rice and charro beans. It was a big portion. The shrimp in the cocktail was a hearty size. Our waitress was very friendly and gave us great recommendations for it being our first time there.

I have read good things about Nogal Mexican Cuisine and Bar. I finally made a trip to Lake Charles to try it out. The service was good. The fondue dip was what I expected. I did enjoy the three types of dips they offered with the tortilla chips. The beef fajita is supposed to be the star of this dish. I don’t remember ever having to add salt to my fajitas at any other restaurant where I dined. Unfortunately, what I was served was not satisfactory. There was little to no seasoning on the beef; it was pretty flavorless. I added salt to help and moved on, still wishing there was a little char or something to enhance the flavor. The meat itself looks good, with nice cuts that are cut to the size that I like. There is so much competition here regarding Mexican food. I doubt I will be back. No, I did not ask to speak to a manager or call 911. I did mention it to my server, but he didn’t know what to say. I just got a blank stare. Sometimes I wonder, if I had a margarita, would the food taste better?

I ordered delivery from Uber eats and was pretty impressed overall. It’s tough to execute takeout well, in my opinion, so I take that into account when leaving a review.
I got the carnitas and chicken tortilla soup. The carnitas were delicious, and they came with 2 really good hot sauce. The green has a nice kick. The pork was tender and tasted good.
The soup was my favorite. It has fresh veggies and half an avocado, which goes well with the soup. The broth was packed with flavor, and the chicken breast was super tender and flavorful as well. They even included a nice portion of the crispy tortilla strips.
I’d recommend this spot and will be back.

i had the fajita quesadilla, CHEFS KISSSS! omg please get that! we had 20 people. our food was out in 20 minutes on a FRIDAY NIGHT! love that for us! & our server was on top of everything! amazing atmosphere, amazing food!!!!!
