We ordered the Palloncino bread, the endive Caesar, the Rigatonici vodka, a plain cheese pizza (with added pepperoni), and of course, the tiramisu — which was the main reason we came.
The Palloncino was unfortunately underwhelming and a bit dry. It wasn’t served with olive oil or anything on the side, and it mostly tasted like plain pizza crust. The standout of the night, however, was the endive Caesar — hands down the best dish we had and honestly one of the best Caesars I’ve ever had. Absolutely delicious.
The Rigatonici vodka was tasty, but the baked presentation threw me off. I would have preferred it as a traditional pasta rather than baked, but that’s more of a personal preference. The plain cheese pizza was just okay — I expected a bit more from a place that features a plain cheese pizza on the menu so prominently.
The reason I’m giving 3 stars instead of 4 really comes down to the service. The restaurant adds a mandatory 20% service charge to all checks, which I wouldn’t mind as much if the service matched that standard. Typically, you see an 18% automatic gratuity, and usually only for larger parties of 6 or more.
We added pepperoni to our cheese pizza (an extra $5), but the pizza came out plain. Since it was a busy night, we didn’t want to send it back just to add pepperoni. The frustrating part was that the pepperoni was still listed on our bill, meaning the server had noted it — but it never made it onto the pizza. We had to point it out to have it removed.
If you’re going to mandate a 20% service charge across the board, the expectation is that orders are accurate and service is polished. There’s a lot of potential here — especially with dishes like the Caesar — but the overall experience didn’t fully live up to the hype.
We started with the fresh baked palloncino bread, which was warm & delightfully chewy with a subtle lemony bite. However, it was super salty (and I say this a habitual over-salter). Thankfully the flaky finishing salt was easy to brush off, which tamed the saltiness. We also had the Belgian endive caesar. The crisp endive mixed well with the creamy dressing & the croutons were out of this world (not shocking, really).
For pizzas, we had the leek & hazelnut and the salami supremo. While the cheese and toppings were top notch, the doughy crust was the star. Perfectly charred, yet soft and chewy. Just excellent.
The tiramisu we had for dessert was also very light and dare I say refreshing.
Service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere left something to be desired, but wasn’t bad & didn’t diminish the experience at all. Just maybe not quite up to par with other places in that price range.
Overall, a great experience. I will certainly be back!
Food:
Rigatoncini al Vodka (4.5/5): Fresh and not too heavy. The spice level was just right, very saucy, and the breadcrumbs added a nice crunch and texture.
Three-Layer Lasagna (5/5): Looks flatter than traditional lasagna, but wow, this was amazing. Very creamy and rich, with crunchy breadcrumbs on top that added great contrast. Different from what I expected and absolutely delicious.
Leek and Hazelnut Pizza (4.5/5): Thin crust, garlicky, and nicely wood-fired. It had a good mix of savory with just a hint of sweetness. It also felt lighter than most pizzas, but still very satisfying.
Pear, Walnut, and Caramel Gelato (5/5): The portion was huge. Perfect balance of flavors, refreshing, smooth, with a little crunch from the walnuts. My wife loves gelato and I am usually just okay with it, but this one was outstanding.
I do not normally enjoy pasta much, but every pasta dish here really impressed me.
Service:
Friendly and attentive. Just a heads up that a 20 percent service fee is added to every bill, not just large parties.
Ambiance:
Small and pretty crowded, but still enough space to move around without feeling uncomfortable. Lively and energetic, especially during dinner hours.
Overall, fantastic food, great for sharing, and a place I would happily return to.
The atmosphere was quaint and lovely. It’s a bit of a U shaped dining room with the kitchen being in the center of the space. I liked the setup and the lighting and decor was nice. It was rather loud however, given the proximity of the tables, so keep that in mind if you’re looking for something a little more intimate. I assumed the vibe would be more upscale given the prices but it was a mix of dress from casual to date night.
Service was solid throughout the night. Servers were kind and attentive. I will say the pizzas being made fresh mean they do take some time so make sure to order that early if you plan on getting one. There’s also a takeout option which appeared popular.
Lastly, the food, which was quite delicious. We wound up going for the roast carrots, vodka penne, pistachio pizza, and tiramisu for dessert. The penne was tasty and rich without actually being that heavy. It had smooth tomato flavors and was light enough even with the buratta to have room for pizza. The pizza was outstanding and was both unique while still being familiar. It had a warm nutty taste and tasty cheese all around. Crust was also great. The true standout may have been the tiramisu which I would definitely encourage if you have the appetite. As a non coffee drinker it’s not usually a dish I order but it was absolutely fantastic. Super creamy and fresh, and so decadent we actually wound up taking some home.
Definitely a place I’d try again for specialty pizza and dessert.

Albacore crudo ⭐
[Jun 7, 2025]
– wouldn’t reorder
– fishy
– bad texture
– stuck together
– the mayo tasted cheap, sort of like those cheap Sriracha mayos, but it definitely wasn’t on paper, it seemed very upscale on paper
