The food here never disappoints when I order. My experiences have always been great and I feel full for a fairly affordable price in this economy. I am unsure if other reviews were one-off experiences, but these pictures should help you make the decision to visit this restaurant. I wish I had more photos to show but I often forget to take pictures because of how good the food is.

This is a Chinese takeout I have come to for a number of years and I can say that it is the best in the neighborhood by a long shot.
The owner is always pleasant, I am someone with allergies to food and he remembers, I ask for special requests and he is extremely understanding.
The food is also never bad, very solid Chinese takeout.

Ever since Hau Po in Centereach went out of business, it has been hard to find another Chinese restaurant where we like everything we like. No. 1 is the only place we like MOST of the food we like to get.
I will start with what we do like. Their fried dumplings, lomein, sweet and sour chicken and cheese wontons are all yummy.
Unfortunately, all of their soups are very bland, the fried rice is just blah, spring rolls aren’t good at all, their egg rolls have way too much cabbage in them and the sauce for their BBQ ribs is unimpressive. It just seems that much of their food is lacking flavors.
We have tried at least a dozen different Chinese restaurants in our area but we have yet to find one that even comes close to Hau Po! So for now we will continue using No 1. Plus they are very nice there.

Would give them absolutely no stars if I could, number 1 Chinese restaurant? Yeah please this is the worst Chinese restaurant on the island, there’s flies all over the place, it’s dirty…do NOT and I repeat Do NOT accept an order from here if you’re a delivery driver for Uber eats, door dash etc. they will say the order is not ready and it’s not even made yet when they’re not even busy or have any customers, when you go and ask how much longer it’ll be the guy gives you a nasty attitude and doesn’t care, well that’s your problem then, the delivery drivers are helping YOUR paying customers get their food, go be like that somewhere else

We used to buy from this restaurant a lot. Lately, though, their food has been lacking. Just tonight I had a hankering for either coconut shrimp or coconut chicken. Thinking I would end up with cooked tails on my shrimp (past experience) I decided to order the chicken. Needless to say, the sauce tasted great. Otherwise, I can’t tell you how the chicken was, as there were almost NO pieces of chicken in the fried breading. There were tiny pieces that were dried to “stringy” things, and 2 ir 3 moist bites, but other than those, there was nothing but fried, very hard, crunchy breading pieces. Such a huge disappointment. After all of the business we’ve given them, seems, sadly, it’s time to find a new Chinese restaurant. This was the last straw (or dried, stringy chicken, as it were) for paying a bit of money for non-enjoyable food!

This restaurant is excellent! The interior design is beautiful and the food is made quickly. I ordered egg drop soup and fried dumplings. The egg drop soup had perfect consistency. The staff is very friendly as well. I will definitely come back in the future.

The food tastes VERY GOOD, the owner is nice and they make rice. The BEST FOOD IN THE TOWN ( I love the RIBS ). AND THE BEST RAPPER IN TOWN! (AKA DJ SANDY)i rate it a 5 star, cause it’s nighttime . Delicious food. The place has been here for a long time and well established. This is usually because the food and service is good, Wontons home made. I noticed that if I have any preferences for seasoning I just tell them up front so they adjust my food accordingly. I regularly pick up food here. I think its worth your time to try it.

OMG what happened to this place. It was gosh awefull! In the past years it was mid of the list ok………..I called them tonight to let them know , offered nothing in return. 89.00 plus a 10 delivery tip. NEVER AGAIN Chinese #1. very sad!
