Social Profile:

We are a small business dedicated to corn and the ancient/pre-Hispanic form of cooking called Nixtamal. This traditional maiz process has been a staple for Mexican food since the Mesoamerican cultures. Born in San Antonio, Texas, Nixtamali Molino + Comedor is a traditional Mexican culinary experience bringing flavors from different regions of Mexico like: Mexico City, Yucatan, Oaxaca among other Northern regions of Mexico. We are respectful of corn and its derivatives. Unique experience in the city related to authentic and regional Mexican cuisine around corn.

Daniel (bartender) and Andrea (server) are an iconic dúo that make your experience at this restaurant absolutely amazing. Their off the menú items are to die for. Their chicharrón de ribeye? GENIUS. Daniel’s secret raspberry chamomile mezcal sour? Omg, I was dreaming. The atmosphere was heavenly, making you feel like you were back in Mexico either visiting family or going to an authentic pueblo. The lily painting is gorgeous. If you don’t come here while in San Antonio, you’re truly missing out. Their signature miel de xochitle (hopefully not misspelling it) was delish and opened my heart to try even more of what Daniel had to offer, leading to trying his secret menu. A great experience.

Just attended the Nixtamali Molino Comedor seven-course, paired dinner. Oh wow!! We love these multi-course, paired dinners and this one was AMAZING! In particular, the first and last tequila/mezcal cocktail pairings were breathtaking. The cocktail creativity was superb. The best bite of the night? Sea Bass taco. Good Lord. Get to one of these dinners. You will not be disappointed. Such a perfect dining experience in the heart of Southtown. We hear they plan to host these monthly. Looking forward to seeing you there. (Atmosphere not at 5 stars…it was warm inside. Wear something light. So worth it.)

Great place for dinner my girlfriend and I were very surprised how empty the restaurant was on a Tuesday night. The queso fundido w/chorizo and chicken flautas really stood out to us. They were the best we ever had. Normally chicken flautas are not so well seasoned, but these had great seasoning on the chicken. The drinks were also very refreshing.

Came here for our anniversary for brunch. A beautiful, authentic Mexican restaurant focused on their corn flour from their molino. The flavors were amazing and perfectly complimented each other. Excited to come back and try their full menu. Definitely on their way to a James Beard or Michelin.

We started with the salsa sampler, which is very good. The beans tasted excellent. We also had the Caesar salad, but it had too much of the dressing which can have ruined the salad. For our trees. We had the flautas. They had a lot of chicken inside of them and the flavor was really good. We also had The grilled vegetables that had asparagus tomatoes and a third option. But I forgot what it was. That was OK. I had The carnita tacos. They’re very tasty but be on the greasy side. They were dripping with oil for dessert. We had the pan lote. It was very good. We were surprised by the presentation. I think that’s what put it over. The top. I would return.

My partner and I recently visited Nixtamali twice while in San Antonio. We loved the authentic tortillas, and the service. The food was amazing and the tuna tostadas out of this world!

It’s a beautiful place, the food is delicious, easy parking experience, great attentive staff. The only downside for me was the volume of the music being extremely loud.

They did accommodate for a while by turning it down so that we could ALMOST hear one another to have conversation over dinner, but then turned it right back up about 20 minutes later. We were joking because of how we were having to actually scream at each other in order to hear. It was nerve-wrecking.

Aside from that one atmospheric / experience disrupter, it’s a great place. Pretty, cozy, sweet folks. Again, quite delicious all the offerings. If I could change that one element of the sound chaos, they would have gotten all five stars from me.

Drinks were unique and amazing!!! Whichever one you wanna try, it will not disappoint. I had the one with gin (Villa something) and my husband had the mezcal old fashioned. Amazing and fun to watch make. Bartender was very talented and both he and our waitress, Andrea were super professional and attentive. Definitely recommend. We had the tuna to start (cold appetizer) and the rib eye corn tacos….oit of this world!!!!

Great local spot with authentic Mexican food! Everyone there is so nice and you can tell everything is made from scratch! The grilled octopus was probably my favorite – it had the perfect grilled flavor. All the salsas and the fresh tortilla chips are out of this world. The pork belly with green mole was also great! We ordered more than we had room for. Bring all your friends and try several dishes!
