Everyone needs a clutch restaurant. The place that always comes through. It’s convenient, consistent, and, most of all, incredibly good. I’ve had many clutch spots over the years as I moved around, but it took me a minute to find my North Shore go-to. But here I am, a local for half a year now, and my go-to is Ni’s, 100%.
Lisa, the owner extraordinaire, is friendly, engaging, and an absolute customer service star. Not to mention a formidable chef. She has an obvious passion for food and its cultural history, and I love talking with her about it. The whole crew at Ni’s is awesome and always happy to chat or handle any dish alterations. They clearly care about their clientele, and it’s one of the things that keeps me coming back.
My “must have” is the veggie summer rolls. I get them every time. Really, really good. And after living in the Vietnamese neighborhood of San Francisco for a few years, eating out almost daily, I’ve had my fair share of summer rolls. The produce at Ni’s is always fresh, and I love how they cleverly use jicama for crunch. The rolls come with peanut sauce, but Ni’s makes a delicious vegan fish sauce in-house that I go with almost every time.
Banh Mi, Veggie Pho, Crispy Tofu, Fried Rice, I’ve had everything on the menu that is vegan or can be made so, and I’ll gladly order them all again and again. This is not an all-vegan restaurant by any stretch (fear not, meat eaters), but Lisa goes out of her way to have options, and I’ve never been anything but satisfied. Even my kindergartner is into the veggie Pho broth and summer rolls, and he’s not the easiest to please.
Wilmette is lucky to have Ni’s. I hope everyone knows that. They’re tucked around the corner from the busier area of Central Ave and Wilmette Ave, and I’ve been doing my best to spread the word. “You’ve never been to Ni’s?! Get the hell outta here..” So, if you didn’t know, now you do. You’re welcome.

Absolutely incredible! This is my favorite place. I’ve brought my whole family and they’ve all been blown away. The food is excellent, so original. Today the service was beyond great. Asia served us with a big smile and was incredibly kind, even though she was very busy. She was attentive and friendly the whole time. I love this place. Gracias

Here’s what you need to know: Incredible food and service. Great flavor profile construction with restraint and finesse – from the simple things like the Vietnamese coffee and spring rolls to more complex things like marinated pork chops and lemongrass beef bahn mi (this one was in my top sandwiches of all time) – it’s all really, really good. Fresh basil and sprouts with the pho were so fresh. Amazing service from Lexi

Service was awesome. Great explanations and recommendations from Lexi and always available to us, with warmth. Lexi even packed all our food for us, which is very atypical for a casual restaurant where you typically get the boxes placed on the table.

Authentic pho here! My daughter who is a very picky eater really enjoyed her pho too! I also tried the Vietnamese hot coffee for the first time and it was very good and strong.

Food was subpar. The broth of the pho was lackluster and had no depth in flavor. The banh mi was also flavorless… I am objectively speaking from experience and having tried multiple Viet restaurants as an Asian person. I feel like the food was okay- nothing special.

This place is located right in front of the train station, so it is a good place to use public transportation. The staff is very friendly, and all the food tastes clean and sincere. One thing I regret is that I want the soup to be a little hotter.

Finally, amazing Vietnamese food in Wilmette!
Restaurant openings are always exciting in Wilmette, so when we heard about a new Vietnamese spot opening in downtown, we made sure to be there on opening night. We absolutely loved it, and Ni’s Kitchen has quickly become our go-to for fantastic Vietnamese food!
The quality here is honestly on the same level as what you’d find on Argyle or in the city – but without having to make that drive! It’s such a game-changer to have authentic Vietnamese cuisine right here locally.
My kids are obsessed with the meatball pho, and I always go for the mixed pho with everything – it’s incredible. The summer rolls are consistently fresh and come with the most delicious dipping sauce. The banh mi sandwiches and bun bowls are exceptional too – everything we’ve tried has been spot-on.
Another huge plus is that they’re open on Mondays, which is rare and so convenient when you’re craving Vietnamese food at the start of the week!
Ni’s Kitchen has filled a real gap in Wilmette’s dining scene. The food is authentic, fresh, and delicious, and the convenience of having it right downtown is unbeatable. Highly recommend giving them a try – you won’t be disappointed!
