The Nippon Inn is an ‘izakaya’ a Japanese Restaurant/Pub in Bournemouth. Here you can find a relaxed, authentic atmosphere. Friendly staff serve a variety of food from sushi to noodles, chicken yakitori, pork katsu and tempura. We have Kirin beer, Sapporo beer and Asahi on tap as well as a selection of sake. The Nippon Inn was opened in 2007 by Steve and Yoko. Having spent several years working together in Japan they wanted to recreate a place where you can enjoy a little piece of Japan in Bournemouth.

We went for my wife’s birthday. The food was excellent (the Katsu curry in particular – perfectly cooked and delicious sauce). I dropped a cake in there beforehand, asking if they could bring it out after we’d eaten… They didn’t just do that though, they put candles in it and came out with party hats on, singing happy birthday. Really lovely, friendly staff, great with our young children. Thank you Nippon Charminster restaurant staff, we had a lovely meal and a great time.

I was so looking forward to this… very disappointing indeed and quite honestly none of these other reviewers can have tried Mi Ya . The food here is very unfresh tasting, the guys serving are friendly but woefully understaffed … mains left on table when dessert delivered… bill took forever , then had to get up and pay as they were just too busy and disorganised. The place is in desperate need of redecorating and a good scrub.
I read a review on Mi Ya slagging it off and saying this place was far superior… that’s why we gave it a try… but my god… Mi Yas food blows this place out of the water.

The staff is really friendly and kind. The food was good and it was worth for the price. We tried maki suchi and salmon sushimi. The staff gave us extra pickle ginger when we asked for free. The place atmosphere is very calming and the place is very clean. I would highly recommend this place and would go back to try more food. 10/10❤️

London, we’ve eaten at many established eatery’s there, so we were pleasantly surprised and absolutely hit the jackpot when we found a table that could accommodate us. The food was very tasty and authentically presented, portions were also good and value for the price. I will definitely be coming back next time we are visiting the area.
