Loved Ninki before they moved. Same great people and food here. They are only having a soft opening and the bar isn’t open yet. Staff are learning and still a bit understaffed but also busier than the old location. They’re also learning a new order system. Great experience. Great addition to this area and will make the theater that’s directly across become my new favorite theater. Once they are fully open and up to staff it’ll be even better. Encourage everyone to give them a try. We didn’t do hibachi but sat at a regular table. Sushi was great. The hibachi side sounded like they were having a ball.

We went last night during what I believe was a soft opening, but the experience was beyond disappointing.

We arrived at 6:13 PM and were told it would be a 20-minute wait. We didn’t get seated until 7:01 PM. Then no one came to take drink or food orders until 7:36 PM — over 30 minutes just sitting at the grill.

To make things worse, parties who were seated after us were served before us. They received their salads and soup, ate, and even left while we were still waiting.

Gratuity is automatically included, which would be fine if the service matched it… but it absolutely didn’t. Our server seemed completely disengaged, constantly mixing up who ordered what at the hibachi grill. People were missing food (myself included), orders were wrong, drinks were barely refilled, and it took around 40 minutes to get the check at the end of the night.

One of the strangest moments was that a grill next to us had already finished eating and was celebrating a birthday. When our hibachi chef finally came over to start our food, he had to stop what he was doing to go perform the birthday celebration at the other table — after we had already been waiting too long.

We didn’t even leave until 9:00 PM, and the food was honestly just mid. Nothing about the experience justified the wait, the forced gratuity, and the three hours spent there.

I understand openings can be rough, but this was not a few small mistakes — it was a total breakdown in service from start to finish. Huge waste of time and extremely frustrating. I would not recommend this place right now.

My wife and I decided to have our Valentines date a day early at Ninki. We were very happy to see there was a table available as soon as we walked in because most were there for the hibachi experience but we were just looking for a table, so we sat right down. Our waitress was pleasant and and quickly got our drinks and took our order. Our food came out in a timely manner and we dove in to eat. Sadly we were meet with slightly warm food with much of the dish flat out cold and this was true of both our plate. When the waitress came over to asked how things were I informed her the food was “ok” but that it was cold. The waitress seemed to wait for us to say something and a ver awkward silence filled the space. Finally my wife said we were fine and the waitress walked off in silence. No manager visit. No offer to replace our food no discount offered just silence no apology. Nothing. Did I ask for a resolution, no. Should I have needed to? I’m happy to debate that, yet the fact remains, the food was cold. If I’m being honest, I don’t know if we’ll go back. We were both disappointed. Eat there if you wish but don’t expect a high level of service or expect attention to food temperature.

The hibachi chef was incredible. He was funny and did some fun tricks with his cooking utensils and the food he made tasted delicious. The woman that waited on us kept our drinks full and was very attentive. A tremendous experience.

We had a really disappointing experience tonight.
After placing our orders, we waited over an hour and never received our food. We asked our waiter multiple times for an update, and each time he told us it was “almost done.” Meanwhile, several tables around us who arrived after we did were served their meals.
Because we were going to miss our movie next door, we asked to cancel our entrees. The waiter pushed back on canceling and made it difficult for us to do so, even knowing how long we had already waited. In the end, our entrees were canceled, but we were still charged for the soups and salads that normally come complimentary with the entrée.
There was no apology and no effort to involve a manager or make the situation right.
We understand restaurants make mistakes and things happen, but the lack of communication, accountability, and basic customer service made this experience extremely frustrating.
Completely unprofessional.

One of my favorite restaurants in Nashville. Great new location, same great food, incredibly kind service all around. A must visit if you’re craving hibachi! Super easy take out process for sushi too.

If I could give this new location 0 stars I would. Waited 45 minutes for a chef after they sat us (we were fine with a wait, but don’t sit us for us to just sit there with no drinks). Then I see a sign saying 18% gratuity, I go to the front and let them know I will not be paying that since we had received terrible service all night. Once the lady takes my card she spends 10 minutes trying to figure out how to reduce the auto gratuity. I go take my card and let her know she can take her auto tip but I’d never recommend walking in this dump again. Save yourself the trip, especially if you’re downtown Nashville

ExcellentJapanese Hibachi food.. well cooked and tasty. The sauce is a bit too sweet/sugar and too much. Lots of fresh cooked veggies too. Our particular server was not so good, but everything else was excellent and we will be back soon.

An amazing experience for my wife and kids! The food and service was superb!! They played the drum and a ukulele in celebration of my wife’s birthday. Ask for Aan (uh uhn)! His service, humor and energy was amazing! Even the server showed out! I forgot his name but it was definitely a blessing to experience that for my wife’s special day!
