I had a chance to visit Tacoma to see how nice, wet and peaceful it is last week before I make a decision to move in the future. Near Tacoma is Federal Way where all the shopping centers and food restaurants are located. We wanted some Chinese food and this is quite a place to be.
The restaurant is in a big shopping center with plenty of parkings. Not a very big restaurant, but very clean and modern looking.
Scan the menu and there are quite many dishes to try and most of them are very inexpensive, under $20 which is nice we ordered quite a few plates. The appetizers are very tasty, I like the braised beef noodles soup, very delicious. The noodles are just right and the soup and meat are very flavorful.
My sister ordered some spicy noodles soup and it’s so good too. We share our food for tastes and the server was extremely accommodating with small bowls and cold water for spicy foods.
The food here is similar to many new Chinese restaurants in CA. The prices are a little less expensive but the tastes are quite similar. The gyoza in spicy oil is very excellent, the cucumber is very tasty and fresh.
This is a perfect place for me to come when I’m hungry without breaking the bank.
Will visit again when I’m here.

My husband and I went to Nine Way for lunch and had a wonderful experience. I ordered the mini hot pot special, which was absolutely delicious. I chose the tomato base with pork belly, and it came with a great variety of vegetables, tofu, mushrooms, and more. Everything was flavorful and comforting.

My husband ordered the spicy dry noodles with chicken, and he said they reminded him of the noodles from Din Tai Fung, which is high praise. We were both very pleasantly surprised by how good the food was.

The service really stood out. Our waiter went above and beyond. He helped us navigate the menu and patiently answered all of our questions. I had leftover soup and rice, and he carefully packed everything to go. It may not sound like a big deal, but when I got home and opened the soup, I noticed he had even wrapped it with saran wrap to make sure it would not spill. That level of care and thoughtfulness really made an impression.

Weekend surprised find. I can’t eat too spicy but ordered the Ma La tang with mushroom soup base. The portion was generous with 6 favorite ingredients I picked on for fish fillets, crab meat mushroom fish cake Tong hao ( green veggie popular for hot pot)and kelp. Owner was very polite and great to chat with. Soup base is not too salty. Very satisfying dinner. Sorry no photo for the dish I finished too quickly before realizing need a photo.

Excellent Sichuan food at this casual restaurant. You can sit down and order immediately by scanning the QR code on your table. I was very impressed with my last order of beef soup. The food has real Sichuan pepper and provides that numbness to your tongue one looks for.
I was not feeling well and my soup made me feel better. The server was friendly and quick. The restaurant, while casual, is light and clean.

I would encourage other reviewers to reconsider how they rate casual eateries… When reading reviews for this restaurant, while their number is excellent…I do not understand how you can say they have the best wonton soup you’ve had in years or praise all aspects only to leave 4 stars. Casual eateries should be rated on their own merits, not necessarily compared to fine dining. They provide different services.

Came in for an early dinner in the middle of the week.

I love the decor and the coziness of the place. It is small but they make the most of the space they have.

The food was very good and tasted fresh. I enjoyed everything very much. If I had one minor recommendation it is that the spice level did seem a little inconsistent. For example, in the menu they have spice level indicators. We got 3 items of varying spice level but they seemed to be on different levels than what the menu indicated. It did not in any way detract from the taste, just something I noticed.

I would recommend starting with a lower level spice soup on first visit to see what you are comfortable with. Also reccomemd the dumplings and the Chinese scallion pancake.

The main issue with our visit was the staff attention. We rarely got a visit from the server and he did not return to our table after doing the plates of food off. We had to flag them down for the check to pay.

Overall it was still a nice visit and wouldn’t hesitate for a 2nd visit.

I have been wanting to come to try out the restaurant for years as I live very faraway. However, it was a disappointment. We ordered spicy beef noodle soup & plain beef noodle soup for my children. However, the spicy noodle soup tasted very weird. Lots of noodles & only had 5 pieces of beef.
There were only 2 tables were used. Customer service was fine. Not much of interaction

Authentic, bold flavors and perfectly balanced heat make this spot a must for spice lovers. Every dish delivers that addictive Sichuan tingle!

The service shines as well, attentive, warm, and always spot-on.

I fell in love with their Sichuanese style dumplings. The sauce was addictive, the chili oil was incredible, and I very earnestly needed to order a side of rice to fully enjoy the meal. I will be back to fix my mistake. Truly an incredible meal, and for the price, it’s one of the best places for Chinese food in Federal Way. For anyone concerned with spice levels, it offers a great degree of flavor with a reasonable level of spice.
