I’m dairy free and generally have a sensitive stomach, but the Jamaican Me Thirsty bowl with tofu was packed with flavor, was the perfect portion, and left my stomach with NO ACHES.
Amazing, bubbly, very helpful waitress. It wasn’t packed on a silent Sunday night, which was to our benefit I’m sure.
Very happy with this stop on our “food tour.” Would highly recommend!
lover each their dishes. I got cool runnings with chicken and cavatappi subbed in for rice. The queso sauce was so flavorful and hearty with all the veggies in it too. black beans on the side paired well too. my fam got irie ites with tofu and rice, the meshach with chicken, and the kingston with tofu and rice. i also ordered a fresh kombucha on tap that was blueberry lavendar i think and it was good and not sour and didn’t have a bunch of sugar added. The root beer on tap i sampled and it was good i just didn’t order it to avoid sugar, and because i just love kombucha instead in general. our appetizer salad was fresh and the bread was yummy too. the vibes inside the restaurant were also so cozy and comfy. It was really busy when we went but we still got sat down within 35-40 min just like we were told.
• First timers on vacation. Dinner with wife, who has gluten and dairy sensitivities.
PROS
• Despite arriving to a packed house, we only had to wait 9 minutes as walk-ins.
• Allergy-friendly options aplenty per a well-notated, easily understandable menu.
• Complimentary natty bread (like moderately thin garlic bread sliced horizontally) and salad with entrees. The salad dressings were so good that my wife literally drank them before hesitantly surrendering them to the waitress. After the meal, we researched the ingredients in hopes of mimicking the dressings at home (as we live hours away).
• For entrees, we ordered the Soul Rebel & Kingston 12. Portions were generous but not overwhelming. The proteins that came with each entree were ideal in terms of quality and quantity. Vegetables were super fresh, cooked just right. Soul Rebel especially was a flavor bomb, boldly spiced with notes of chutney that added sweetness to every third or fourth bite.
• For dessert, we splurged on a seasonal dulce de leche pumpkin cheesecake (taken to-go). This is especially noteworthy as my wife rarely puts her dairy sensitivities to the test. It wasn’t overly sweet and was well-spiced. We both seemed to enjoy it.
• Helpful and congenial wait staff.
CON
• Probably too loud for a first date or any dinner that you’d expect to be heavy on conversation due to music and several patrons talking simultaneously.
BOTTOM LINE
• The food here makes you happy to be alive. Our money was well-spent.
Highly recommend getting an order of Natty bread if you like garlic!
Bowls of food are huge. Could’ve definitely shared one.
Any sauces you like you can buy bottles of. Was told if you bring the bottle back for a refill you save $1
