Fantastic Hidden Gem Near Carthew Bay – Italian Restaurant
We four family members had a really nice and very tasty dinner experience to celebrate one couple’s 70th birthdays. Upon arrival, our waitress: Dawn sat us down at a window table with a view of Carthew Bay. For the table, we ordered 2 bottles of wine: 1 red/1 white. Each couple also split an Insalata Cesare, which tasted out-of-this-world excellent. I am a fussy eater and I tried the Seafood Linguine with additional tiger shrimp. It was super-loaded with shellfish and calamari, and it was by far, one of the most plentiful pasta dishes that I’ve ever had. It was one of those meals where you didn’t want it to end; so good! The other three had Vitello Portobello; two with roasted potatoes/one with penne. The portions were so large that all three took away in takeout containers, almost half of each of their dishes. This dining experience was superb to say the least; we all smacked our lips with delight. It was a smart idea to make reservations well in advance, as the dining room is spacious, but it is a smaller than typical restaurant, being tucked away in a nice lakeside community. All in all, we four absolutely loved the entire dining experience, and we will certainly return in the near future. Nina is obviously a fantastic chef, and big thanks to Dawn for being attentive and accommodating for our party of four.

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary by going to Nina’s Fornetto for dinner. I am writing this review to let everyone know what an awesome experience we had. The restaurant is very cozy, the service was outstanding and the food delicious. The atmosphere was reasonably quiet with soft background music playing. We were able to relax and enjoy ourselves over an amazing meal which included wine and beer. It is not overly expensive but well worth the cost. This is the perfect place to celebrate any occasion or just come for a great Italian meal.

My husband brought me to Nina’s Fornetto for the first time last night for my birthday. We were immediately greeted and decided to eat on the patio (the best table with the best views). My husband wanted to have an intimate, romantic dinner for my 33rd birthday and that’s exactly how it was at Nina’s. The weather was beautiful and we listened to the geese take off and land on Carthew Bay. The food was AMAZING. We had bruschetta, chicken parm and manicotti. The bruschetta was the best I’ve ever had and the main courses were delicious! Our server (Dawn) brought me out tiramisu for dessert and even sang “Happy Birthday” to me as she brought it to the table.
We will definitely be back. It’s so nice to have a beautiful, delicious restaurant so close to home.

Would highly recommend the Vitello Portobello (veal cutlet in brandy cream sauce and portobello mushrooms served with grilled vegetables).

Nina’s was a beautiful place with views of the lake and a lovely patio area. The food and service were excellent! The limoncello at the end of the meal was a nice, and unique touch.

Warm friendly atmosphere, beautiful location. The food is delicious, the calamari was the best I’ve had in a long time and the desserts are over the top! My kids favourite was the Nutella ice cream. Amazing service!

Manicotti was microwaved and cold in center; cheesecake obviously came from a box. Decided to close the restaurant earlier than stated time for no apparent reason – wouldn’t even sell us an after dinner drink. Definitely NOT fine dining. Would not recommend.
