Nimto Nepali Kitchen: Authentic Nepali Flavors in Austin
Reviews
If you are not the spicy guy, I would recommend let them know prior so they can make it mild.
Go for the momos. Stay for the thakali thali. Come back because somewhere between the choila and the sekuwa, you realized that Austin just got a little more diverse and delicious.
We also loved the concept of live music, which made the evening even more special. Pushpa is such a fine guitarist—truly talented! The staff were all very down-to-earth and welcoming.
Overall, we loved the ambience, food, drinks, and service. Highly recommend this place for great Nepali food and a lovely vibe! ✨
Nimto offers an extensive menu featuring Nepali, North Indian, and South Indian cuisines. Given the restaurant’s Nepali roots, we primarily explored the Nepali offerings. The khaja sets were a highlight of our visit. Both the chicken and mutton khaja sets were generously portioned, visually vibrant, and well-balanced with a variety of sides, rice, and accompaniments. The mutton in particular was tender and well-prepared, making the thali both satisfying and enjoyable. I would strongly recommend the khaja set to anyone visiting.
We also tried the momos, which were well-made and flavorful, and they complemented the meal nicely. On the South Indian side, we ordered a dosa. While the portion size was substantial, it did not have the thin, crispy texture typically expected, and the accompanying sides were limited. It was acceptable, though not a standout compared to traditional South Indian specialty restaurants.
The service was attentive and courteous throughout our visit. The staff were responsive to orders, ensured water was provided promptly, and maintained a smooth dining experience. The entrance and seating arrangements were well-organized, contributing to a comfortable overall setting.
In summary, Nimto offers a good atmosphere, generous portions, and reliable service, especially for late-night dining. While not every dish stood out, the Nepali khaja sets and overall experience make it a place worth trying. I would recommend visiting with an emphasis on their Nepali cuisine.
Highly recommended!
