Then, my beer was warm. Too bad…
Finally, it took forever (almost an hour) to get our food. The place was just one third full. The waitress brought everything at once : soup, salad and dish. We told her she could have served soup and salad earlier to kill the wait…
Then, scallops and shrimps were overcooked. Salad was immersed in dressing. Everything was oversalted. Never had such a bad experience in a Japanese restaurant. We will avoid the place for a long while..
My husband said the sushi was okay, not as good as what we’ve had in NYC or Hawaii. I’m allergic to shellfish so couldn’t have any of the sushi he ordered.
The mushroom soup was horrible! Not sure what flavor the soup was supposed to be but it was weird. Ended up down the drain. The Teriyaki sauce was cloyingly sweet and I could not eat it on either the chicken or beef. My puppy enjoyed the beef and chicken without any sauce, as well as the chicken fried rice, as I, did not. The seaweed salad was great and the best dish was the Agedashi Tofu; flavor was on point and they actually use katsuo boshi flakes on top!
Overall, this place is probably considered good Sushi and Japanese food, for Wyoming. I’ve had a lot better elsewhere and most likely won’t be ordering their Teriyaki again.
The vegetable roll seemed like it had been sitting out for awhile. There was some mushy brown stuff which was disgusting. The asparagus in the fried vegetable tempura was so soft I could bend it into a pretzel shape. There was a quarter onion fried and soggy included in the tempura plate. This restaurant is disgraceful.
The Hibachi Steak was EXTREMELY SMALL (see picture) and overpriced for the quantity given. I expected it to be small portions because it’s hibachi, but it was much smaller than expected it’s only about 7 small bite-sized pieces. However, the quality was very good and the sushi was even better and priced about average for this type of restaurant. Despite my severe disappointment in quantity, I enjoyed the quality of the meal. I very well may return, but will not waste my money on the Hibachi Steak again. The atmosphere is clean, quaint and a bit noisy during dinner hours. But, it is across the street from the University so I wasn’t expecting it to be a quiet place.
Black Dragon Roll: shrimp tempura, cucumber, avocado topped w. eel sauce and sesame seeds
Rising Sun Roll: California roll, baked salmon and dynamite sauce, eel sauce, green onion, sesame seeds
We ordered them as take out. We took bites of the food before taking the pictures. They were delicious, definitely will order from here again.
