I was incredibly excited for dinner here tonight, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. While we didn’t get the chance to see our idol, Chef Shirley, the experience was still exceptional. From the warm ambiance to the attentive service, everything set the stage for a wonderful evening.

We ordered the wontons, halibut, potato purée, kung pao tofu, and duck fried rice. Every dish was beautifully prepared and full of flavor, but the true standouts were the wontons, the silky potato purée, and the perfectly cooked halibut.

To finish, we shared the matcha layered cake, which was the perfect sweet ending to an already fantastic meal.

We can’t wait to come back!

I want to start this review by giving our server, Kyle, a shout-out! He was amazing and really made sure my partner and I were taken care of on Valentine’s Day! On top of that, all the staff made sure our drinks stayed full and our table stayed clear when necessary. For the service alone, I’d recommend!

Foods I’d recommend – Spicy Duck Fat Wontons, Shrimp and Lobster egg rolls with plum sauce (not pictured), the sweet and sour halibut (not pictured), the orange quail, and the tapioca pudding with mango and grapefruit.

Best dish of the night for me were the Spicy Duck Fat Wontons. I’d never tasted anything quite like it. It was rich in the best way and the serving size was perfect. Kyle told us to make sure to also sip the broth – game changer!

Overall, lovely experience for fancy date night!

If you’re looking for a date night vibe with good Asian bites…this is the spot. The saint is upstairs so I definitely recommend going up there to check out the downtown view and grab an after dinner drink. We did the WAGYU potstickers with a side of jasmine rice and their wagyu did NOT disappoint. People throw wagyu around on their menu all day but the quality and taste speaks! Ambiance! Ambiance! Ambiance! From the door handles at entry, the staircase that leads you upstairs, to the quaint sexy bar. We will definitely be back.

And ask for the server, Sky. Amazing menu knowledge for both venues and she also bartender so perfect person to suggest a drink!

What an incredible experience! The decor is spectacularly moody, stylish, and chic cozy. The food is elevated and inspired authentic chinese by Top Chef alumna, Shirley Chung. The service team did a great job considering it was opening weekend, not an easy feat. The icing on the cake was a Chinese lion dance ceremony blessing this beautiful addition to the Dallas food scene!!

This place is amazing! We were a fan of Shirley Chung’s Los Angeles restaurant so definitely wanted to try her new Dallas location and we were not disappointed. The staff was professional and attentive. The atmosphere was lively and intimate. But the food was absolutely insane. Everything we ordered was delicious. Must haves are the cheeseburger dumplings, wagyu fried rice, orange quail, fried pork chop, and potato purée with an egg on top!!! I wish I could give more stars!!!

We were so lucky to be able to attend the Grand Opening of the Night Rooster…what an experience! A large group of us have had been eagerly awaiting this night and in family style, were able to sample almost every offering on the menu including drinks, apps, entrees and desert. The food that Chef Shirley Chung created was incredible! The attention to detail was immediately impressive, from the custom hardware throughout, to the hand cut crystal glassware to the cool art which adorned every wall, ceiling and even bathroom! Possibly the coolest part of the night was the traditional Chinese Lion Dance….SO AMAZING!! Drums, symbols, dancing…very very cool!! The person that cried about it below should be flogged and was probably out past his bedtime….this was one of the highlights of the evening. We will be back often.

We recently visited Night Rooster after having made a reservation back in January. We love this style of cuisine and the chef’s reputation had us excited to go. Pretty generic square dining room with a bar section separate. Well decorated but there wasn’t a vibe on a Saturday evening. Anyway, onto the food.

Hot appetizers were so-so. Shrimp sumai fresh/tasteful but missing flavor. Lobster air rolls were fantastic. However the chef’s special, the cheeseburger dumplings were really not that … special. 3 stars for the apps but good lord, the filet and broccoli was some of the best I have ever had. That together with the drinks scores an average of 4 stars.

Now what bothered us the most though was the service. Our server, although nice and polite, kept talking about their own tastes and likes and was a bit too negative on the menu. Just rubbed us the wrong way.

Literally, the second I walked up to the wicked cool front door I was excited to be there. The vibe was exactly what I was looking for for a girls night out. The staff was super friendly (and quite attractive) and seated us quickly. The art was also very well curated and the music lent to it perfectly. The food was awesome Asian fusion that took some serious creativity. Chef Shirley came out and greeted us personally, and shared her journey that got her here. I would recommend looking her up – you’ll be impressed with what she’s conquered. We are every bite and loved the cocktails. As a step-daughter of a Chinese family, I can tell you that this was legit…with a modern twist. The piece de resistánce was the Lion Dance performed in honor of the chef, her culture, and in celebration of the opening of this incredible restaurant. If you’re looking for a cool place to eat where the atmosphere matches the food, I highly recommend Night Rooster!!! (The owners were there and so gracious to every patron.)

The atmosphere was very nice. We ordered the spicy chicken wontons – delicious. The tofu, cucumber salad – pretty preparation and light, refreshing. The duck (1/2) was good, but the skin was NOT crispy. Quail – yummm. The pea shoots, were tough (supposed to be tender) – still well prepared.

Our group of 4 lucked out and had dinner on their grand opening night. It was such a great dining experience! The atmosphere was warm and inviting. We were also excited to get to see the Chinese Lion Dancers celebrating the grand opening during our dinner. Our server, Charlotte was fantastic, she was so helpful explaining the dishes with the best attitude. Dinner started off with some gifts from the kitchen, duck consommé and citrus rice paper. All the apps we ordered were great especially the lobster and shrimp egg rolls. The star of the dinner was the Tea smoked duck, we love the light smokiness, it was super tender and juicy. Vegetable fried rice is light and fluffy, filled with texture. Sweet and sour halibut, we loved the pomegranate sweet and sour. The pork chops are insane. Everyone in our party had a great time and will definitely be back.
