Nicks Downtown Diner is a local family owned and operated business. We are proud to be part of a community that is rich in history with cafes and diners from the days when things moved a little slower. Our goal is simply to remind our customers that places like that still exist. A cozy, hip hangout reminiscent of the diners and cafes from past where the food was made with pride and the service was brought with a smile.

Just absolutely marvelous. Excellent food, Excellent service and atmosphere perfect small town diner atmosphere.
I had a jalapeño burger cooked to perfection, with an excellent spicy aioli to go with it. My wife loved her Reuben, also done just right.
Daily specials.. today’s was Swedish meatballs- lots of these were sold over the lunch hour. Also a cocktail menu for those people looking for something extra.
I highly recommend this diner!

What a great little place in a small town to have breakfast! We took off for a stay in Lanesboro, to check out the leaves and just happened to stop here for breakfast on our way out of the cities. What a great idea! Everything about this place was excellent. The food, the service, the prices, everything. I would highly recommend stopping here if you’re close.

The “High Five” is worth trying. The donut adds a sweet base to the savory fried chicken, eggs and gravy. The fried potatoes are even better when dipped in the gravy. The pour your own coffee is great to keep your coffee just the right temperature.

This is more of a modern diner. What they do best is evident in their food. The ingredients are fresh and things appear to be made from scratch. The quality of their food is vastly superior to most diners. Service from the kitchen was a bit slow, even though most people in the restaurant had already been served. Prices are slightly higher than a normal diner, but the value is there in the food. The sausage links are about twice the girth of normal breakfast sausages and they are absolutely delicious.

Nick’s Downtown Diner may very well be the best restaurant for breakfast in Canon Falls! Excellent service, great menu selection! Besides the excellent breakfast choices there are many nice lunch selections to choose from on the menu (Note: Close at 2pm – no dinner service – and also closed on Tuesday’s).
Also, there is a very nice selection of whole pies and cakes to choose from to purchase to go too! The four of us had very nice breakfast and would definitely return!!

My sister and I live a couple hours away from each other, and Nick’s has been our halfway meeting point for quite some time. Today after about an hour of catching up and leaving a generous tip, our waitress stated, ” I’m going to need you guys to give up your table as we have a line.” Two small parties were in line. I have never been asked to leave a table at a restaurant due to a line in my entire life. Very shocking and disappointing.Needless to say, we will not be returning. There are plenty of other places in the area to meet that will appreciate our business.

This is one of those places that’s so great, it’s like a hidden gem. Like a great fishing hoke you want to keep to yourself, so it’s not too busy when you go back.
The service was good, a bit slow and he didn’t really check on us to see how we were doing. Having said that, he was extremely polite and helpful.
The atmosphere is great. Laid back, not over the top. Just calm, but fun.

Blackened chicken salad was excellent. Basic burger was average. Jumbo tots were a bit odd. Shredded potatoes on inside were seasoned with something like sour cream and onion. Varied and interesting menu!
