Went to nick’s diner for the first time and it was a top experience. The food was really good and it came out pretty quick. The chocolate chip pancakes are the best pancakes I’ve ever tried and would definitely recommend this place. The service was good as well, the servers are nice and polite. Will come again.

Nick’s Diner in Wheaton, Maryland is one of my favorite breakfast spots! The International Omelette is absolutely delicious — packed with flavor and cooked perfectly every time. I love pairing it with wheat toast and their fluffy pancakes, which are soft, warm, and just perfect.

Nick’s Diner, located at 11199 Veirs Mill Road in Wheaton, MD, is a landmark family-owned institution that has served the community for over 40 years. It is widely regarded as an “old-school” diner, characterized by its narrow layout, chrome swivel stools, and floor-to-ceiling glass windows.
The diner was opened in September 1982 by Nick and Sophia Markopoulos. Nick, who immigrated from Greece, had a long history in the restaurant industry before establishing this Wheaton staple.
The restaurant has remained a family affair for its entire existence. While Nick has officially retired (recently celebrating his 75th birthday at the diner), the day-to-day operations were passed down to his children, George Markopoulos and Heather Markopoulos.
The menu is centered on traditional diner staples with a few unique family recipes. Guests frequently praise the large portions and the “old-school” preparations, such as blueberry, banana, or chocolate chip pancakes, corned beef hash with eggs, and the “Meat Lovers” omelet.
The menu also includes a variety of cold and hot sandwiches, house-baked ham, and their famous home fries.
I have been to Nick’s Diner many times in the past, but had not written about this “old school” diner.
But what really sets this finer apart is the super friendly service and welcoming attitude of every server. Most dishes are prepared in their flat iron skillet, but the cooks manage to put out expertly prepared and delicious breakfast and lunch dishes.
It is always a pleasure to order my favorite, the turkey club on toasted whole wheat with Swiss cheese and bacon, always served with a generous side of potato chips mounted on top of the sandwich.

Good old Greek diner. We only go for breakfast which is cooked up fast and served hot. Not fancy, but family owned and operated and a great Wheaton institution! Be prepared for a line and a crowded tight space! Enjoy!

This place is probably the most underrated gem I’ve ever visited (and peak diner experience)! Service was great, food came out pretty quick and was super filling and delicious, tons of natural light and seating (super cozy), and the prices were great. I spent $40.58 on two big plates of breakfast with pancakes + coffee + hot chocolate + toast + english muffin. I just had to tip 30% because it was so worth it. Some of the other photos taken of the food here look pretty bad in my opinion, but the food looks so good in person and tastes even better. You won’t be disappointed!

Old fashioned dinner for breakfast and lunch. Very good food and reasonable prices. Great service and people are friendly. All of our order are correct and came out in timely manner. Parking lot might be little small but you should able to find a spot if not on busiest times. My friends and I came here few times and definitely will come back again. If you are in the area, you should check this place out and most likely you will like this place.

Had a FANTASTIC breakfast with my 3 year old daughter. We had a Big Breakfast with pancakes. I had the banana pancakes and let me tell you it was amazing!!! It was soooo good. Definitely found my breakfast spot for whenever in Wheaton MD. Waitress was such a delight and she was super nice and attentive. Food was DELICIOUS!! Definitely recommend this place!

Can’t say enough good things about Nick’s. It I’ll try. My husband goes there avg.4 times a week!!! The staff that works there are all amazing! They are constantly moving around. No sitting around and chatting. Special shout out to Lenka ((sp.?)!!

This is the best place to get breakfast in the Wheaton area. The staff are very friendly, the food is really good, and the portion are also pretty good especially for its price.
My favorite thing to get there is the Big Breakfast, which is 2 pancakes, 2 eggs (in your preferred style), 2 strips of bacon or 2 links of sausage, and served with home fries. You can also add a slice of cheese if you want. It is a good thing to get if you eat more than the average person and you like to have a variety of things during your meal.
If I am just getting pancakes, then I usually get Banana Pancakes and add chocolate chips to them. In my opinion, Nick’s makes the best American pancakes in the area, and they are even better than the places that I have tried in Rockville and Silver Spring.
The breakfast ham sandwich is also really good.
I really like almost everything that I have had here, the only things I didn’t love are the scrapple, which is an acquired taste, and the sausage gravy, which while not bad, is not something that I like to eat a lot of, so I usually have to set aside half of it for later. Even that is just my personal taste.
There are 2 complaints I will make though. One being legitimate while the other is just me whining.
The Parking situation isn’t great. If you park in the lot in front of Nick’s it is somewhat easy to get into, unless you have a large car, but getting out can be difficult since it is directly next to an intersection that gets really busy especially during rush hour. You can park at one of the metered spots beside it which is also not ideal since it is also affected by the busy intersection. The easiest place to park is the lot far behind Nick’s, near the Bank of America drive through ATM.
However, when there isn’t much traffic, it is extremely easy to get in and out of the parking lot in front of Nick’s, unless you have a large or wide car.
My whining complaint is that since I had started working an early job, the time that I want to get this type of breakfast is now at around 3 am, and considering that they tend to open around 6 or 7 am and that is around the rush hour traffic, means that I haven’t really been able to go as much as I would have liked especially since they also normally close at 3 pm (1 pm on Sundays.)
Either way it is a great place to go get a nice breakfast with family, friends, or by yourself if you are a loner like me.
