Food and atmosphere was amazing! First time coming here and it definitely won’t be my last. I came during the 2:00 hour so it wasn’t too busy. I got seated right away and only had to wait a short time before getting greeted.
One thing that Drew me here was not only the food and ratings, but also that they have a parking lot right next to the restaurant. You can park for free. Just make sure that it is in a parking spot that has a sign that says you can park for free if you’re going to Nicholas restaurant. (I didn’t realize this when I first got there. I’ll remember it for next time)
I will say the service was a little weird. Considering it was not a busy time I thought I would have been checked on a little bit more. But also I had no complaints with my food and it was kind of nice to be left alone.
I can’t wait to go again to try out the other items they have. The dressing that was on this salad was phenomenal. You could taste the fresh herbs in every dish. And they serve you a pita fresh out of the oven. When you sit down. It came bubbly and pillowy and was the best pita I think I’ve had in my life. ♥️
I had a lamburo that came with pita chips and I ordered the hummus and salad for an upcharge. The hummus was beautiful
I had a Beirut Betty for a cocktail and had a Turkish coffee to go with dessert. I had the cheesecake which is a little different because it’s served warm. It’s light and fluffy. Kind of has a meringue type texture with some creaminess to it and the crispy kataifi and pistachio on top was Devine.
Looking on their menu, it seems that they also have a lot of items that are great for those who are vegetarian or gluten-free, so it’s great for those who have dietary restrictions too.
Give it a try!

Nicholas is a Portland Classic. The piping hot fresh baked naan they bring to you upon arrival is truly spectacular. The hummus and various dipping options to pair with the magical naan are delicious. Our server, Ethan, took excellent care of our large group. Yeah was attentive, kind and professional. The ambiance is nice, classy but still approachable – in the best way. The lamb kababs were my absolute favorite dish, paired with the saffron rice, that entree will never be forgotten. The cocktails list is lovely, I thoroughly enjoyed the spicy whiskey sour. Everyone in our group ordered lots of different items, each one was top notch. We ordered every dessert on the menu – the crowd favorite was the rice pudding! There is a row of free parking spaces in front of the restaurant, that was a lovely surprise. I have been a fan of Nicholas for years, each time I return I am reminded why I will always keep coming back to this place. Their team treats you well the second you walk in, I cannot say enough how impressive their service is.

Food is

Visited twice now and everything we’ve had was delicious and fresh. Although their vegetarian options are limited, they do not disappoint!

Service: prompt and very attentive. But if you’re looking for friendly, upbeat service, you won’t get it here. Not bad service by any measure, just not very friendly and a bit awkward. However, the host today with trenzas was great and definitely far more welcoming than the last host we encountered in our first visit.

Food: fresh and delicious. It also comes out quite fast! VERY little waiting time.

Parking is free and right in front of the restaurant as long as you’re dining there.

Atmosphere is fine but nothing cozy nor spectacular.

Overall, you come here for great food and nothing more.

Our server was Hunter and he was amazing! He was very attentive and took the time to make suggestions as well as answer any questions we had about the menu. His drink recommendations were Perry as well. I got the vegetarian mezze and I totally would recommend it. The humus and tadziki were great and the spinach pie was amazing!! The falafel was fresh and served warm! I got to try some of the other food we ordered and all of it was amazing! It was perfection. Again, thank you so much to Hunter for being such a great server. I currently live in Thailand and every year I come back to Portland I stop in to Nicholas Restaurant. This was the best service I have had in over 20 years!!!!

Seated fairly quickly for a group of 4 walking in, parking might be a challenge, we were lucky and got a spot that is reserved for the restaurant otherwise you’ll have to pay in the parking lot or park on the street.

Huge portions which is expected for the price. Excellent food, we literally enjoyed everything!! The pita is HUGE , the waiter was kind to let us know because we were going to order two.

We orders Shawarma Plate with Lamb, and another one with Chicken. Beef Kabob Plate. Vegetarian Mezza. Fattoush Salad

We first visited the restaurant in Gresham while on vacation in 2019, and were wowed by the hospitality and absolutely delicious food. We spent the weekend in Portland and made it a point to go to the new (other) location for lunch today. It didn’t disappoint one bit. Once again, we’d love to give 10 out of 5 stars if we could! Super good! Please go and eat there. It is 100% worth it!

This restaurant is so gorgeous and when you walk up has a full parking lot, along with plenty of street parking. There is also a nice bonfire on the outside with chairs should you find yourself waiting a bit for your reservation or want to enjoy your leftovers on your way out. It is busy! It is a popular spot, this was very clear as we walked in as noticed how many tables were taken. We also noticed how many awards this place has won over the years that stretches beyond 2020!

This food came quickly and the service was very kind. I loved how many gluten free GF options there were to pick from and the ability to ask questions without fear to our server. It is very tasty and I cannot wait to go back and try even more food from this place. This was the first time i have found real pita bread that can actually be pulled apart and feels like actual bread. Most of the time it’s substituted with pita chips and that always makes me a little sad. But this place kept the smile on my face. Every bit of it was amazing. Try something new and expand your pallet. I tried the arak mojito and thought it wasn’t the drink for me, due to the intense black licorice flavor…. I’m so happy I gave it a try then switched to a white wine. My husband loved the gluten free beer the space also offers! 10/10 experience.

Gluten free meat mezza, the lamb pie is NOT gf so we asked for it on a separate plate for my husband to enjoy. Real GF pita bread. GF Chicken Kabob pizza

Great casual dinning with amazing flavors and cost to portion ratio. This is a place where you could definitely accidentally over order. You’ll get full here and your money’s worth. We were never waiting around either to get cups filled or more drink orders to be fulfilled. Surprisingly the chicken shawarma was even better compared to the lamb or beef skewers which has never been the case for any other restaurant imo.

So good and it’s worth every penny. I did take outs and the food was still warm when I got home. I don’t eat there often because I live on the west side but I work close to OHSU so it’s convenient after work. I highly recommend this restaurant and the prices are worth it. It’s so good!

This location is brighter and more open than the one on Broadway and the food is just as good. We had excellent service and though there may have been a wait here and there, we found it gave plenty of time for conversation and to digest a little bit. The food had a lot of flavor, including the beef kebab, chicken shawarma and hummus. We were treated to a birthday baklava and loved all of the pistachios. We also tried the knafeh and our party inhaled it. We will be back again!
