I’m back here again! This is my favorite hotpot restaurant in LA! They actually redecorated their place. It looks much better than before. It tastes even better than before, I think . We ordered half&half soup base, half is medium spicy, and half is pork tripe&chicken soup. The pork and chicken soup is rich in flavor even without any dipping sauce.
Must-order dishes are: fungus and shrimp balls, snowflake beef short ribs, fresh cut hanging tenderloin.
I also recommend pork brain , really good in the spicy soup.
Most of the skewers are spicy beef, and don’t miss the spicy fish maw and the spicy chicken cartilage.
Also I really really like the ‘eight egg & four ounces rice’, really stunning !

Great retro vibe that feels like old-school Sichuan. The spicy beef skewers (especially pickled pepper and cilantro) are tender and flavorful. Broth is rich and aromatic, not just plain spicy. Love the crispy chicken gizzard and homemade ice jelly. Sauce station is well-stocked with clear instructions.

Service is friendly and quick. Ventilation is excellent—no heavy smell afterward. Prices are fair (around $35/person). Gets busy at peak hours, but worth a visit for a late-night or weekend hot pot fix.

Will be back!

Finally visited the newly renovated Nice 2 Meet U in SG and it didn’t disappoint! The vintage decor is super cute and the whole place feels much brighter.

The Fresh Duck Blood is easily some of the best in LA—super tender and soaks up all the spice. We loved the dual pot (Beef Oil + Pork Belly Chicken). The spicy side really kicks in after a while, so be prepared to sweat! Also, don’t sleep on the braised section; throwing the braised intestines into the spicy broth makes them even better.

Everything felt very fresh and hygienic. It’s a great spot for a long, relaxed dinner with friends. Will definitely be back!

Nice to Meet You Skewer Hot Pot has reopened after renovation, and the space feels much more comfortable now. The food quality is still solid and familiar. We ordered the pork tripe chicken soup and spicy beef tallow broth — both were flavorful, and the spicy side had a great aroma without being overpowering.

The skewers were fresh, especially the sliced pork belly, goose intestine, and cilantro beef. Everything cooked quickly and tasted good. The fried rice with pickled vegetables is a must-order — very fragrant and satisfying.

Will definitely come back.

With so many new Sichuan and mala tang spots opening lately, it’s getting harder to find a truly good beef tallow skewer hot pot. This OG spot, Nice 2 Meet U, is still the one I think of — and I’m so glad they’re back.

The updated menu now includes more small plates ($5.99 each), while skewers remain $0.49 per stick. Highlights:
• Pineapple Beef Skewer – sweet and tangy pineapple wrapped in juicy, spicy beef. Surprisingly addictive.
• Morel Mushroom w/ Fish Roe Shrimp Paste – bouncy, savory, and packed with rich broth flavor.
• Rice Noodles (Lai Fun) – authentic, soft yet chewy, and a pleasant surprise at a skewer spot.

Loved the pickled chicken feet and tremella soup as well. The renovated space feels modern, clean, and comfortable. Still my go-to skewer hot pot place — definitely coming back to try more next time.

After the renovation, this place feels completely upgraded — brighter, cleaner, and much less oily, with wider table spacing that makes dining more comfortable. We ordered the dual broth (spicy beef tallow and Chaoshan beef bone soup): the spicy broth is flavorful without being overwhelmingly hot, and the clear soup is light and perfect for highlighting the freshness of the meat. The freshly sliced marbled beef was excellent — tender, not mushy, and full of natural beef flavor. The fried crispy pork was juicy with a crunchy exterior, and the brown sugar tofu pudding was a pleasant surprise and very refreshing after hot pot. At $0.49 per skewer, the total came out to around $30+ per person, which is great value for the quality in San Gabriel. Would definitely come back.

On a rainy Monday evening, my partner and I had just arrived in LA. We met up with one of my old friends and they brought us out to this restaurant. The food here was so good and it felt very authentic in flavor. From the skewer selections to the soup base or even the free snacks at the front, everything was delicious. However, some aspects of this restaurant made no sense to me. For instance, they had maybe 10 parties waiting while they had multiple large tables just waiting around for nobody. From the time we got in line to the time we got in, was about 45 min to an hour, which if we were seated at the big table, it is possible we would’ve been done within that same time frame. As a person familiar with hosting and table rotations, it makes no sense to save those tables when you can just burn them for smaller parties. Otherwise the food was great.

Came back after the renovation — the place feels much cleaner and more comfortable. Skewers are $0.49 each, small plates $5.99, great value. Fresh hand-cut beef was tender and flavorful. The egg fried rice was surprisingly good. Nice dessert station and fresh drinks after the meal. Worth coming back in San Gabriel.

This place has honestly become my favorite chuan chuan spot.

Every time I come here, I tell myself I’ll try to control how much I grab… and every single time I fail. Once the skewers start cooking, it’s impossible to stop.

The ingredients are always fresh, and you can really tell the owner puts effort into the menu. There are new items almost every time I visit, which keeps it interesting and fun.

Great flavors, great vibe, and definitely a place I’ll keep coming back to.

My friends and I were thrilled to discover that 那年遇见串串火锅 has been transformed! The atmosphere is now beautifully rustic and cozy, with traditional Chinese décor that makes the dining experience even more enjoyable. The expanded menu is the real highlight. We tried several new additions:
Fresh-Cut Chaozhou Beef Series:
We were lucky to try the Diaolong, Shibing, and Wuhua cuts – the meat was incredibly fresh and tender. A quick 8-second dip in the broth is all it needs! Do note that availability varies daily, so come early if you can.
Marinated Small Bowl Dishes:
The marinated肥肠 (pork intestine) and beef tendon were flavorful and rich. We also loved the耗儿鱼 (small river fish) and the expertly sliced腰片 (pork kidney) – no unpleasant taste at all!

The skewers remain a great deal at $0.49 each, with a wide variety to choose from. A place to chat and eat with friends.
