Delicious and affordable Japanese sushi place! Their rolls are amazing. They serve you edamame for an appetizer. I ordered Giant rolls, Rainbow Rolls and Spicy Salmon Rolls. Everything tastes good. The chef and staff are really friendly. I’ll definitely go again for lunch.

The food was flavorful, nice and warm. We had the miso soup, veggie tempura, agedashi tofu, side of rice and salad. We also had Bay island, fiesta special and fire cracker. I didn’t particularly like the Bay island but the other 2 sushi had flavors. Will surely recommend visiting this. Staff is super nice and warm.

Delicious food! Lots of variety with bento boxes – huge portions and good prices! I loved bento-box B! So delicious! The tempura was lightly battered. The california roll – best I’ve ever had! The short ribs were tender! I would come here again! I think I found my new and favorite japanese restaurant!

I’ve been having some sushi craving for dayssss, and haven’t found the chance to get some. Not usually in San Mateo but found this place on google 5 mins away from me, and decided to give it a shot! It was SO worth it! Easily became one of my fav spot now! Will def be coming back here next time I am in the area! The portions and the pricing are really good. Quality and taste are amazing too! Definitely recommend! (Also full bowl of edamame lol, I just happened to already snacked on them prior to the rest of the foods being served)

I think I just found one of my fav home style Japanese restaurants. The lunch bento boxes are delicious, that you can try out tempura, teriyaki chicken, sashimi, miso soup, edamame for ~$20. The fired food were non greasy and I really enjoyed my lunch here! 100% coming back again!

Sashimi was very poor quality! Took one bite of tuna and it was obviously off. We couldn’t eat it. Told the waitress and the sushi “chef”, they gave no apologies or offers to give us something else. The rest of it was pretty unappetizing. Worst sushi experience in the Bay Area in 25 years! We paid the full bill and will not return. You can find supermarket sushi that is better than this. Can’t understand why this place has good ratings.

Very good vegetarian bento and excellent friendly service. Tempura veggies and agedashi tofu both just right. Tasty avocado-cuc roll and tempura sweet potato rolls. Delicious rice. Relaxed, spacious, and clean. Glad I found them after an SFO drop-off.

I used to be a regular, but I moved to other city. I revisited this place about 4 years later from past visit, and the owners still remember me! The food is great, and the portion, compared to the price, is really good.

The food was OK until I tasted a sour, gone-bad white tuna. I raised the issue to the chef and server, and they turned hostile to us. They kept saying all the fish was fresh, and that it was me who was wrong. I don’t know how tasting bad sashimi is a problem of a customer. I asked the chef to try the sashimi piece, and he refused to do so, saying that he can guarantee the quality. I was shocked by the food quality of this restaurant and the way they treat their customers. Don’t order sashimi or sushi, unless you enjoy such unpleasant experience.

We were blown away by Ni-Mo on their prices (yes, sushi at a bargain) and the amount you get. I don’t think I recall any sushi joint that matches their price and quantity in a bustling downtown area. Now yes, you do get the “discounted” quality of sushi and everything else. Purely based on food, I would give it 3 stars. However, the overall value we got from Ni-Mo is a solid 4 stars. There’s a part of me that yearns for Ni-Mo to just focus a little bit more on quality but then, they are literally serving sushi at a discount. Not for dates. Go in when you’re just hungry and can eat a horse.
