Secondly, the atmosphere. I understand it’s winter and the temperature won’t be warm, but it’s definitely not cool indoors. They kept the A/C off and only had a standing fan running. Fair enough… but the problem is that the fan was placed by the balcony, facing inward, which means it was pulling outside air directly into the room — along with the pollution. The moment I reached the second floor, the entire room was filled with motorbike exhaust. That was horrible.
Thirdly, the food. For the prices shown on the menu, I expected the plating to be at least “acceptable,” especially for a 500k+ fillet mignon — but it wasn’t. The Greek salad I ordered was more “inspired” than authentic, which I could tolerate, but the sloppy plating and the poor execution on the fillet mignon really annoyed me. I ordered medium, but it came cooked “congratulations” on both sides, with only the center being medium to medium-well. The waitress didn’t give me a steak knife until I asked for one, and she noticed immediately that the beef was overcooked. I told her it was fine since it was still tender enough, and I didn’t want the fillet mignon to be thrown away just because I sent it back. The sauce didn’t impress me either — for a French restaurant, I expected something beyond a typical generic steak sauce, but there was nothing special at all.
As for the service, the waitress on the second floor was friendly but spoke very limited English. The other guy, I’m pretty sure he couldn’t speak any, because every time we called for service, he pushed everything to the lady. Not very professional — they weren’t paying attention to customers whether we were waiting to order or had finished eating, and instead were busy chatting with each other. Another thing, they actually let us sat on a table with dirty tablecloth, and swapped us to another table only after we told them that the table is dirty.
All in all, maybe I should have set my expectations lower. It felt more like a “high-end French eatery,” not actual French dining, and that would’ve made my experience more bearable.
More expensive than most vietnamese places, HOWEVER well worth.
Food is a labour of love, lovely environment
Highly recommend
It’s a nice restaurant, well decorated, with polite staff.
Steak is delicious
but the onion soup is a bit burnt
We were immediately escorted to our private dining area and served the most delicious and elegantly prepared meal I have had in a long time.
The service was spot on very attentive and polite in fact I recommended it to a colleague, who happens to be one of the most discerning foodies on the planet and he too agreed with me Au Delice delivers a superior product at an affordable price.
Finally I decided to make the decision to try this restaurant for myself in spite of the few bad reviews it received and I was pleasantly surprised I thought possibly I was in the wrong place. My experience was superb. The food, service and ambiance were all 5 star. I highly recommend Au Delice for a delightful dining experience
They run a restaurant and a tiny butcher shop, with quite an impressive assortment.
Staff speaks English and they all are very friendly!
I had an amazing ham and cheese croissant here!
Worth your attention!
