My husband and I love this place!!
Also, if you have a dairy allergy or if you are vegan they have a really great veggie nachos, I’ve never had it like this the way they create the veggies and grill them it’s so good. I just get it without the cheese. It is so yummy.
My husband orders variety of things here enchiladas and tamales he just loves it as well.

So very friendly without being overbearing. They let us talk and enjoy our food but never let our drinks run dry. The food was DELICIOUS. I ate every last bite and so did my husband. I had the tacos de birria and he had the quesadilla de huitlacoche. The whole restaurant was clean and very cozy but modern. I could definitely see myself eating here again with just my husband or with a party. Just an all around great experience.

The inside is ugly. The food had no flavor, very bland. The bacon wrapped jalapenos had a dirty dish rag (what i could imagine would taste like) taste. The worst ive ever had and the cheese inside wasnt even melted and it was still very cold. Idk how you can mess up bacon wrapped jalapenos so bad. The water was foul tasting. The service was exactly how you’d expect from a place that looked like it only had teenagers running it. The place was empty and I understand why.

Wow!! Sometimes you just got lucky. Was rolling thru town and stopped at the first Mexican restaurant and was super glad we stopped. The service was very good, but the food was exceptional. It wasn’t the traditional “TexMex” wholesale food reserved. It was much more authentic tasting and novel. Was so glad we stopped here and would recommend you visit as well. And, each person had their own “personal salsa bowl” so no fear of the other people double dipping! Great touch.

I was camping at Purtis Creek and it was raining so I drove into Athens to kill some time and grab dinner and I’m so glad I did. I had the Birria tacos and they were fantastic! Worth the drive and I plan on coming back next time we’re staying at Purtis Creek!

This place is AMAZING! By far the best food in the area for miles. My husband and I will be back regularly.
UPDATE: after a year of this posting, this needed to be updated. Service has gone down since. We have not been back since one of the main servers refused an accommodation on an enchilada plate (which I’ve ordered several times before). She was VERY rude and I will not be back as long as she is employed there.

Wow! This is one of the best restaurants in Athens! Food and staff are superior, and restaurant is always clean. Let me start by saying the owners care about their business. Chips, salsa, queso, and other appetizers taste great and fresh. Every meal I have tried is hot, fresh, and seasoned well. Each wait staff is friendly and professional. If you haven’t tried this Mexican restaurant, you are missing out.

I never write reviews, but Neza’s Mexican Restaurant deserves every bit of praise I can give. Their food had absolutely no reason being that good…seriously! The Birria tacos are hands down a must-have. Perfectly seasoned, tender, and packed with flavor, they completely blew me away.
The atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was friendly and attentive, but the food is what truly shines. You can tell there’s a lot of love and care put into every dish.
If you’re in Athens, do yourself a favor and stop by Neza’s. I’m already planning my next visit. Thank you, Nea’s, for making food that’s so good it inspired me to write my first-ever review!

Good green quesadilla! Nice vegetarian options. Salsa was a little plain but ask for the pico and it makes it much better.
Rice and beans were FLAWLESS. Even the plate came out piping hot.
