This is the best banh mi I’ve had, and I’ve even tried a few in Hanoi. The ingredients are authentic and fresh. I ordered the crispy pork banh mi and was delighted that the pork stayed crispy, even after a 20-minute trip home! So many times the pork skin turns soft and chewy, even when eaten immediately. The bread was crispy and buttery, but the pickled vegetables kept the sandwich from feeling too rich. Highly recommend!

One of my goals this trip was to find a good bánh mì and I’m so glad I stopped by Newtown Pork Roll. Everything was fresh, crunchy, and packed with flavour.

Newtown Pork Roll
I was in the city today and decided to try them out.
The bread was nice and fresh, while maintaining a good crunch and being flaky. I quite enjoyed the white onion, which I’m guessing was pickled. The spring onion was also enjoyable, although I’m used to it not being cut up.
Similarly the carrot had a nice zing to it and the size it was cut into was very demure (trying to find other words to describe than just enjoyable)
There was also radish and cucumber, however I do wish there was more of it, nonetheless still delicious.
The cold cuts were not your average cold cuts (from at least what I have previously had), which came as a delightful surprise.
The only issue I had was the pork strips, there was quite a lot of pieces with just the fat/jelly(?). Honestly this could just be a me problem, as I don’t really like having that piece of pork and would just rather the other 2 meats (however i didn’t know how to order that)
The pate was absolutely delicious, and the sauces used added to this.
Overall, a splendid roll. It is quite filling. I would get again if in the area and I recommend others to try it out if they are also in the Newtown region.

Get the best sellers honestly better than in vientnam absolutley gorgeous. It makes your mouth water. The taste of this bahn mi is undiscribebale. Absolutle loaded and full of amazing taste. Love it best bahn mi in australia for sure, dont miss out on it.

The chicken rolls here are the BEST in Newtown and if you buy one you will not be disappointed. Even the chickens are happy to go into these rolls they are sooo good!

Honestly the best combination roll i have ever had. The food was fresh, flavours fantastic. The staff were friendly and kind. I will be coming back here when im next in Sydney. I am someone who eats banh rolls regularly. Trust me when I say these guys are the bomb.

One of the best, if not the BEST, crackling pork belly roll I’ve had!
The sauce in the banh mi is very savoury and goes well with the pork belly. The crackling is so tasty, healthy fillings and the bun is the right firmness (softer than most other placers which makes it easier to eat).
Additionally, great service from the staff, friendly with a sense of humour 🙂

Lost in Iberia
Tiny hole in the wall with a number of tantalising pork banh mi on offer, as well as chicken, fish, salad and tofu. I always love to order the original pork, as that is how I’ve had it in Vietnam and how I have it everywhere so I can compare like with like. Other than a little too much onoin in the salad mix, this is a good one and Newtown is lucky to have it! (the only other Newtown banh mi I’ve been getting before I discovered Newtown Pork Roll is from Delish, which I would avoid now I have a choice).
