Newport Wine Cellar and Gourmet is a specialty wine shop and market devoted to providing hard to find, delicious, thoughtfully and responsibly grown and produced foods, wines, beers, and spirits from around the world. We seek out the very best, so that you don’t have to. We support small agriculture and artisan products locally and further afield, and celebrate all the delicious and indulgent culinary delights out there, as well as making a few of our own in our kitchen. We are a cellar, and pantry. We hope to give you a reason to slow down and chew on your food a little. In a world where we are always rushing to the next thing, we are part of a slow food movement that asks us to eat, drink, and think.

I visited the shop today, hoping to purchase cheese. Based upon the photo display, they had a wonderful selection. I arrived only to find that there were a couple of shelves in a closed refrigerator on one side and perhaps two shelves on the other very sparse.
Nothing of interest. Nothing exciting. And insulting to have someone walk to their shop only to find, but I would consider a terrible selection of cheese.

My wife and I stopped by for a quick lunch. The sandwiches were great. Their cheese selection looked delicious and they carried a great variety of imported spreads and vinegars. I will definitely stop by next time I am in Newport.

Ran in right at closing for some last minute provisions and was greeted with enthusiasm and free wine tasting! Very cute little spot and the owners were delightful. Wish I was able to take advantage of the wine club, the opportunity to support local while enjoying delicious wines!

If ever there was a hidden gem, this is it! Tucked away behind Memorial Boulevard on Merton Road is this unassuming little shop offering quality gourmet food and a carefully curated selection of fine, affordable wine from around the globe. I was impressed with the variety they were able to fit in this cozy little space.
Jon (sp?) spent a generous amount of time answering my questions and getting to know my tastes to point me in the direction of wines I might enjoy. I wasn’t able to take the wine with me right away and they gladly held it for me until I could return with my car. Overall, a wonderful experience and I hope I get the chance to visit again in the near future.

This is a great shop if you’re looking for artisanal cheeses. Very wide variety of fantastic cheeses from all around the world. This is a new location that they move to within the last couple of years which is much bigger than the old location in the more crowded shopping district. I like this location since it is easier to move around in and find parking. Staff are normally very helpful didn’t guiding you to a cheese you a like as well as pairings.

Incredible curated selection at all price points with a global footprint and excellent importers. I always trust Jon and Maria’s suggestion. Have been shopping here for years and it’s my go to wine store. Quality wines starting at ~$15+ and great cheese and charcuterie to compliment the wine.

I didn’t realize they had a small sandwich shop but I have loved everything I’ve tried so far. They do daily soup and pizza specials and the salads are unique and fresh. The fresh pastries and amazing as well, I just wish I found this place sooner!
