Went for a birthday and decided to share small plates.
Food:
Had the tuna tartare which was our favorite dish. Great flavor and crispy wontons were super light. Also had the feta plate, curry shrimp, smoked salmon salad, and pomme frites. Flavors were great all around. My only note would be that fries and crostini that came with the feta plate were not very crispy.
Service:
Our waitress was great. There was a delay on my drink but she comped it. All the other food came out on time but could have been coursed a bit better. The lights were a little bright in the section we were sat in, but I asked for them to dim the lights and they did pretty quickly.
Atmosphere:
Beautiful interior. The bar section is extremely nice. Dining room is pretty decent, but the star of the show is the bar for sure.
Overall – great addition to the Ocon food scene. Probably working through a couple things since they just opened, but we will be back!

We were able to secure two seats at the bar on a busy Friday Night. The service at the bar was excellent and the cocktails, both the classic Negroni and their specialty white Negroni were excellent. We ordered the starter of octopus carpaccio, which sounded delicious but when it came, the octopus was really fishy so we sent it back. We then ordered the beef carpaccio and burrata appetizer, which was delicious although it was a little heavy on the truffle oil flavor, but the capers seemed to offset that. We could’ve used more bread! We ordered. ponme frites, a smoked salmon salad and lamb shank for dinner. The french fries came in a basic basket and were not crispy or even hot and the smoked salmon salad was almost inedible. It was heavy with oil, and every part of the salad tasted like the smoked salmon. I picked a cherry tomato to eat off of the plate and all I could taste was smoked salmon. Needless to say, we were kind of disappointed with the food. The lamb shank however, was tender and cooked perfectly. The root vegetables were also cooked perfectly, but the accompanying polenta feta cake was pretty much flavorless and the dish could’ve used more sauce for sure. Our bill was $200! We probably won’t be coming back for dinner, but maybe a drink… We loved the bar staff.

Fantastic restaurant Supper Club! We went with friends to have some wine before our meal and were fortunate to meet the owner, Mike. We love unique dishes both land and Sea. Newport 1875 has both and as a group we started with Oysters from the East Coast, tried the Beef Roulade “thin Steak rolled with Blue Cheese and Bacon, “WOW Very Good”, Mediterranean Sea Bass and the Maine Scallops were the choices by the Seafood lovers and —all delicious and memorable.
Newport 1875 is now on our Supperclub list.
