I have been going to Newick’s since I was a young child. We didn’t eat out much, but Newick’s was always one of our staples when we did. We returned for the first time in many years this summer, and overall had a nostalgic, tasty and enjoyable time. The food was good, though the chowder was not as good as it used to be. The portions were still very, very generous – enough for two meals. The prices were still reasonable. The atmosphere, though a bit updated, still had the same down-home feel (and lack of air conditioning…). The waitress was kind and helpful.

This place is a must stop if you are in the area and looking for an affordable seafood bite. The food is fantastic, lovely view of the waterfront, and service is warm & accommodating. I look forward to my next trip into the area so I can visit Newick’s again!

I grew up nearby and Newick’s was always a staple whenever we went to the coast, so it only made sense to bring my own family when we came to visit from Pennsylvania. There was a short wait to be seated so we hung out in the lobby and my son was fascinated by the lobster tank in the lobby. The hostess was a very sweet young woman who pulled out a live lobster for him to say “hello” to. That kind of extra service really makes a place like Newick’s stand out as something special.

Newicks is a tradition that is worth celebrating whenever you’re in the Seacoast area. The menu has not changed much and that’s a good thing. The food quality, service and prices all point to a great value for the entire family.

Went in February due to several recommendations from friends. Took 20 minutes to get drinks, almost an hour to get any food. A lot of waitstaff standing around and chatting, blaming the kitchen for not having enough cooks that night. Nice sunset view but the decor is a bit tacky.

Great location and service. I tried smelt for the first time and liked it. I think we were the only people that didn’t order a lobster roll. Apparently they are know for it. I think it would have been better than what we got.

This was the first time in quite awhile that we had gone to Newick’s because the food ♦️ just hadn’t been what it used to be. We decided to give it another try after a year or so of not eating there. We were VERY pleasantly surprised! Our meals were delicious and the wait staff were also terrific. We noticed that there were more diners enjoying dinner than any of the previous times we’d been there.

We were driving through the area, and my husband was fondly reminiscing about visiting Newick’s as a child with his family. We wanted to stop in, but we had our dog with us. I called to make a take-out order, and the girl who answered offered dining on the picnic tables. Thank you! The three of us really enjoyed the thin clam chowder, clam/scallop plate, and the view!

It was all delicious. I didn’t get a picture of them but my sister and I also had the steamers and a cup of clay chowder. We will be going back. Our waitress, Annie was excellent as well. She was back to our table timely and always with a smile on her face.
