This seems to be a very nice deli. I only had the opportunity to get breakfast here, so far. I thoroughly enjoyed the everything bagel with cream cheese and lox that I had. This is a fairly busy establishment on Saturday morning with the mix of students from the university and non campus people who came in during our time dining there. I recommend stopping in for a bite if you are in the area.

I’m not one to leave dissatisfied reviews, but this was unacceptable. I ordered a breakfast sandwich this morning from Newark Deli and Bagels, and my experience was unfortunately ruined by finding multiple strands of hair on my breakfast sandwich. This not only ruined the meal but also raised concerns about the cleanliness of their kitchen. I informed the staff, who were apologetic and offered a replacement, but the initial disappointment was hard to shake. I hope they take this feedback seriously and improve their food handling practices. Until then, I won’t be returning.

I believe they have the best everything bagels around, hands down. Honestly, they have never been known for good service, but their far superior bagels has kept me coming back for years. But I don’t know if I can anymore. It is unbelievable how frequently they get my order wrong. Their success rate is under 50% as of late… Usually putting my breakfast sandwich on a different bagel from what I ordered. I always call in my order and thought maybe I am not communicating it properly.. I always get a whole wheat everything, but too often they put it on a plain whole wheat bagel. This last time I asked them to repeat it back to me. They did, and it was accurate. I get home, and two sandwiches are on whole wheat BREAD . With the prices increasing as much as they have, I can no longer justify spending that much knowing I have a better chance of getting a sandwich I did NOT order than what I did. After 25 years of frequenting Newark Bagel, I am officially done.

My go-to is the Taylor ham, egg, and cheese on a multigrain bagel — scooped out and extra toasted — and it hits the spot every single time. The bagels are perfectly crisp, chewy, and flavorful. Honestly, even in New Jersey (yes, Jersey), the bagels don’t hold a candle to the ones here. And now that I live in Charlotte, NC, I miss this place even more — there’s just nothing like Newark Deli and Bagels down south.

Newark Deli and Bagels is a middle of the road experience. Their bagels are quite good, but prices are high. Service can be a bit slow, but there are a few really nice staff members. I witnessed one return a woman’s credit card on an occasion. The atmosphere is nothing to write home about, but it is clean enough. Go if you want something on bagel!
