I prefer the ruben special but there are so many good sandwiches. Only negative things I would say is the empty back area and the lack of “by the slice” pizza. The space is kind of used as a storage area.
I do understand that they are a small company and have low resources for workers but I wish they would get more help.
The food overall is fantastic and would recommend it to anyone looking to support local places with good food.
We both like a Reuben with pastrami instead of corned beef. So I ordered one sandwich With extra Sauerkraut, a little extra Thousand Island dressing and extra Swiss cheese.
We ordered a Hawaiian pizza with added tomato (sorry, it’s what we like). We figured even if we each only had one slice, no problem cuz we both love leftover pizza! (we we’re only over that way because we had business to take care of in Tualatin. So I found New York’s Reuben online.)
We picked up the order and drove home, which was all the way across town.
The food was still nice and warm when we got home. We decided to eat the sandwich first.
I was not ready for that bite at all! The meat was tough, and I couldn’t really taste the sauerkraut or dressing very well. I guess there was extra cheese, I’m not really sure. The meat was not only tough, it was dark like well done roast beef. It also did not taste like pastrami. I opened up the sandwich and you could barely see any sauerkraut or dressing. The sandwich was extremely disappointing and pretty much inedible! We threw away the sandwich (and I hate throwing away food), and hoped the pizza was as good as I read!
Ok, I was nervous for that first bite! I am happy to say we were not at all disappointed! The pizza was very good! The sliced tomato on top was fresh and delicious. The only thing I would say is maybe a little more sauce. The pizza was definitely a win!
I don’t know what other sandwiches are like, but I would definitely recommend the Pizza!
Today the icing on the cake was the awesome service from the guy behind the counter Ruben(not the owner). Just the guy who runs the show day to day. He is an incredibly nice, friendly, and efficient guy. Our subs were made great and brought to us hot within less than 10 minutes. Now I just need to try their pizza for my next visit after I have already had 4 of their different subs.
UPDATE 1/17/2026
We ordered pizza again from New York Rubens for another company event. They absolutely did not disappoint. The pizza was delish and warm. We can now say their pizza is consistent. Highly recommended!
