I’m from Queens. Lived in the NW for 20 years. Still go back east and I’m telling you this is THE ONLY spot I’ve found in the state that is 100% proper NY pizza. Get an XL plain pie, that taste is the taste of NY straight up and huge for the price. You will never go back

I’ve been a fan of Rubens and it’s been the only pizza I’ve got New York style for the last six years. Live in Oregon city but make the trip out and whenever I’m in Tualatin I always grab a pie. This review is for the last two orders only. It wasn’t edible not the flavor or taste. There is almost no dough on the bottom and it basically was a pile of mush. This is the second time so 60 bucks for no food. I will mention it next time I go in usually it is the absolute best.

Their zeppoles and chicken parm remind me of growing up on Long Island. Pizza is a *bit* doughy but otherwise is the closest you’ll find to NY style in the area. Will definitely be back!

The owner is a serious gem. Our company will do large orders of 10-15 sandwiches and sit down together for lunch. It is always a fantastic event.

I prefer the ruben special but there are so many good sandwiches. Only negative things I would say is the empty back area and the lack of “by the slice” pizza. The space is kind of used as a storage area.

I do understand that they are a small company and have low resources for workers but I wish they would get more help.

The food overall is fantastic and would recommend it to anyone looking to support local places with good food.

Ruben always provides the best service. His sandwiches and his Chipotle sauce are second to none. The pizza… legit NY style and its all because of the delicious soft dough. Fold it and crush it. Philly cheesesteak, meatball hero or Italian, all toasted and warm. You will be pleased. This is my spot anytime Im in Tualatin!

My husband and I love a good reuben sandwich, we also love great pizza. The description of both was too enticing to pass up, especially the pizza!
We both like a Reuben with pastrami instead of corned beef. So I ordered one sandwich With extra Sauerkraut, a little extra Thousand Island dressing and extra Swiss cheese.
We ordered a Hawaiian pizza with added tomato (sorry, it’s what we like). We figured even if we each only had one slice, no problem cuz we both love leftover pizza! (we we’re only over that way because we had business to take care of in Tualatin. So I found New York’s Reuben online.)
We picked up the order and drove home, which was all the way across town.
The food was still nice and warm when we got home. We decided to eat the sandwich first.
I was not ready for that bite at all! The meat was tough, and I couldn’t really taste the sauerkraut or dressing very well. I guess there was extra cheese, I’m not really sure. The meat was not only tough, it was dark like well done roast beef. It also did not taste like pastrami. I opened up the sandwich and you could barely see any sauerkraut or dressing. The sandwich was extremely disappointing and pretty much inedible! We threw away the sandwich (and I hate throwing away food), and hoped the pizza was as good as I read!
Ok, I was nervous for that first bite! I am happy to say we were not at all disappointed! The pizza was very good! The sliced tomato on top was fresh and delicious. The only thing I would say is maybe a little more sauce. The pizza was definitely a win!
I don’t know what other sandwiches are like, but I would definitely recommend the Pizza!

Not real friendly. The food is just a bit better than subway. I did not try the pizza but the marinara is way too sweet the sandwich is big. It is not Worth a 2nd trip

I have mainly ordered takeout from here but today we stopped in and sat down to get lunch. We both ordered subs. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak with cheese, onions, and the sweet roasted peppers. My wife ordered the hot pastrami with mustard. Both subs were delicious as always and I have to say someone who grew on the east coast(Massachusetts). Also took many trips to NYC and Long Island….this place is like being back home. I have always wanted a sub shop like this near my house, it’s still about 20 minutes for me. But worth the drive to get a taste of home for anyone that’s looking for this little hidden gem.

Today the icing on the cake was the awesome service from the guy behind the counter Ruben(not the owner). Just the guy who runs the show day to day. He is an incredibly nice, friendly, and efficient guy. Our subs were made great and brought to us hot within less than 10 minutes. Now I just need to try their pizza for my next visit after I have already had 4 of their different subs.

We ordered six large pizzas to go for a company event. We picked up around noon and there was a line ahead of us. Most of the seating was occupied which was a good sign. The pizza was still warm when we got back to the jobsite and was delicious. Being a pizza snob – this is good pizza. Highly recommended if you want great pizza in Tualatin!

UPDATE 1/17/2026
We ordered pizza again from New York Rubens for another company event. They absolutely did not disappoint. The pizza was delish and warm. We can now say their pizza is consistent. Highly recommended!

HUGE sandwiches! Come hungry! Me and my boyfriend shared a Ruben and it was super filling and extremely delicious! The staff here are very friendly and nice. The girl working the register was very nice when I asked about the scrunchies on the counter they were selling. She told me her little sister was making them! I purchased one to support the young entrepreneur!
