My “chicken korma” was four chunks of grey mystery meat literally swimming in two cups of old fryer oil. The only thing that could have come close to resembling korma were the crusty bits of debris from foods past stuck to the bottom of the takeout tin.

Later found out the meat was in fact lamb which I do not consume for religious reasons.

Perhaps thankfully I only was able to eat two bites before giving up and tossing most of my meal. Still the fact that a meat was substituted without my knowledge nor consent was very upsetting.

Instead of the dried fruit naan for which I paid more I was given plain naan that was somehow overly chewy and stale at the same time.

I took a single bite of gulab jamun before giving up on that as well when it tasted almost the same as the “chicken korma” I received.

Tried to call the restaurant a few times, but decided not to waste my energy when no one answered the phone.

Between my experience here and a similar experience at the Lake Street location I am done giving this place chances to live up to what I remember when I used to get takeout all the time a few years back.

Not that it makes a difference, but my order was placed and picked up well within business hours when one would think the entire menu would be available.

It’s a tradition for me to try out new spots for my birthday so I went here two years ago and the food is SO good. Here is where you’ll get the most authentic food you can find, the flavors are bold and strong. It’s so delicious with the naan. Definitely coming back here sometime soon, just thinking about it makes my mouth water haha

Went in for the first time in a few years, and it does seem like ownership has changed or just that there’s been a big update to the menu! Ordered butter chicken and swapped the bread for rice, and then got the fish and fries. Also got some mango lassi. We waited maybe 10 minutes for our food, but it was pretty busy and there were some large groups doing takeout at the same time.

Overall, we really enjoyed the food! The butter chicken and rice reminded me of when my friend made me butter chicken from scratch, and I really enjoyed it! The rice was fluffy and flavorful, too. The fish was not what we expected – the picture on the menu I feel makes it look more “plain” but it had a really nice seasoning on it. Fries could have been more salty, but we liked them! The mango lassi wasn’t my favorite of the ones I’ve had in the Twin Cities metro, but it wasn’t bad by any means. The prices all seemed very reasonable.

All in all, I definitely feel like this will be my new-go to place to get butter chicken in the neighborhood, and I can’t wait to try more of the options on their menu!

One thing to note is that the restaurant is definitely more set up for takeout / quick bites and I wouldn’t necessarily bring a large group and expect to have space to sit and eat. There’s definitely seating, but it’s counter-service and there’s not a ton a ton of tables.

“NY Gyro is an amazing place to eat! The quality and quantity of the food are outstanding, and everything is 100% halal, which is also great for Muslim customers. The staff is incredibly friendly, respectful, and always serves with care, making each visit enjoyable. I’ve been here many times, and the consistency in their service and food is impressive. Whether you’re looking for delicious flavors or a welcoming atmosphere, this restaurant is a must-visit. Highly recommended!”

We went to dine in. Parking was very tight. Had to wait for few cars to leave before we got parking. Inside ambience is like a run down joint. You have to avoid looking over the ceiling and corners in order to eat food else its disgusting. (thats why I took 2 points off) Food tasted good. We only went there once and not thinking of going back again. Order a take out instead. Staff was very good n pleasant to talk to!

We ordered the chicken and rice – very close to what we had in NYC. The white sauce was good but the hot sauce wasn’t spicy. The student fries were good but the orange sauce on top of the fries were a tad on the sweet side to taste. The Kofta kebab with rice was really good. It’s more like Italian sausage though. Overall, super good and reminded us of the Halal food trucks we tried while in NYC.

Moving to Minnesota in the last year and this has been my favorite spot. Came here throughout my entire pregnancy because their butter chicken was/ is just to die for, I come here so much that my daughter is now 9 months old and they all know her lol. The girls are so friendly and always make sure they get your food right. Plus about this place is that it is open until midnight

This place is good place to get some food. I had the chicken rice and baklava. The portions are large so you will be filled up after eating here. They also close 3 in the morning so that’s also a plus.

Was hungry and went to get food with my partner here; we usually have a decent experience but tonight it was just not there. He ordered a chicken rice with cucumber sauce on the side, they completely forgot to give him his sauce. I got their fries with chicken and usually there is 0 issue with me adding some of the fresh salad ingredients but tonight I was told it’s an extra charge. Kinda weird and offputting since I only wanted one thing but okay. We order 2 mango ice creams ($6 a piece may I add) and we only drove ~15 mins before they were immediately put in the freezer. Went to grab them and realized they were completely melted and were inedible. A waste of $12 and we know if we tried to get our money back it would somehow be our fault even though they chose to pack it with the hot food and we weren’t far from home to begin with.
