This could be a very nice place. The food that I have had is not bad but it’s not something I would highly recommend. I have only had pizza from them a couple of times but I’m just going to base this on my only time eating in. There were a few people at the bar and some takeout orders but the dining room was empty and they didn’t appear to too happy we wanted to sit down. It was more than two hours before their posted closing time so we sat and tried to order. Our waitress had no idea of the menu or what beers they had on tap etc. she had someone else come over that took our order and apologized for the drink menu not being on the table and she took our order with no problem. Not a big deal. The pizza was decent and a cold beer to wash it down . Besides a few water stained ceiling tiles the dining room was pretty decent. Beer and Italian food themed pictures, you get the feel I’m sure. I did not go to the bar section but I plan to go back and maybe go there and check it out. It may be a great spot. The pictures I took were last minute of the dining room and some pizza and a tall beer only. It’s worth a visit but when they start cleaning up with over an hour left and pushing a check on us, that’s something I really did not care for. Cleaning for the night I get but clearly wanting us out of the way by stacking the chairs up around the customers and starting to clean by them and not somewhere else with the amount of time before closing is rude. I almost always try a place a couple of times because things happen. No worries I’ll give it another try soon.

Finally stopped by for a slice, great pizza, I have to say. Good crust, good cheese, and good grease. I had two slices and a drink for a little over 8 bucks with tax. It’s not a bad deal for good pizza. The slices were good-sized, hot, and melty. There’s a lot on the menu, so I’m gonna try another menu item and see how they stack up. The service was not great. Not enough to stay away, but one should not have to worry about a language barrier at a pizza joint, in my opinion. (Unless in Italy) for the food I got I say go give them a try.

Rude owner, incompetent staff, sub-par pizza and entrees. They took my takeout order incorrectly over the phone and when I got there the owner tried to get me to pay for what they made. I asked him nicely if they could make the correct order I had asked for and he gave me an attitude, so I told him that I just wanted to cancel the order and he told me to never come back. That’s not how you do business – he should have apologized for his staff getting the order wrong and just made my order correctly. Their food isn’t even that good, they barely chop the vegetables on pizza and salads and their pasta dishes taste more of a Mexican-style than classic Italian. I’ve also waited an absurd amount of time in the restaurant for takeout orders, long after they said it would be ready. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere better.

Going to start off saying we were the only ppl in the restaurant. There was absolutely no music or tvs on so imagine how awkward that can be. The food is fine nothing to rave over, the Italian salad dressing tasted like straight oil. The whole time we dined there were 2 dirty tables, as if they have something else to do. The best part was the JMU logo on my cup #godukes (that we had to seek out the waitress to refill)

This might not make any difference to anyone wanting to dine in here, but if you doordash here just know you will have to triple check food to make sure it is correct. My boyfriend and I doordash frequently and got a doordash to deliver from here. The lady handed my boyfriend the wrong food one time, and as we left to bring the food to the customer, the customer said it was the wrong food. As a dasher does, we called doordash support and they stated that we would have to discard of the food. Unfortunately we got another doordash there this evening and the same hostess that handed us the wrong food decides to yell out at my boyfriend and scream “Get out you stole our food!” over and over again, cutting him off and not letting him speak to explain the situation. Not only did she continue to essentially harass him, she went and talked about my boyfriend trying to make a mockery of him to her coworkers, over something that is THEIR fault! Coming from someone who works in the food/ customer service industry this is absolutely unacceptable. This place needs to not only hand out correct food but they need to watch their lip. Never again will I dine here.

May 5, 2024 – Since the Cinco De Mayo crowd filled all the Mexican Restaurants in town. . . Go Italian with PIZZA!

My wife and I are new to the area, so our mission is to find great pizza in the Waynesboro area. Which style of pizza do you prefer?

New York Flying Pizza opened August 5, 2015. Owner David Hernandez also owns a couple of other restaurants ( New York Flying Pizza in Bridgewater, and Ciro’s Flying Pizza in Grottoes). This location offers a wide variety of mostly Italian items . . . ranging from Lasagna, Carbonara, Linguini & Clams , Baked Ziti, Fettuccini Alfredo, to Subs, Burgers, Fries, and Nachos!

It’s casual dining, with take out service for the community. It wasn’t very crowded today. Our server, Maria, warmed up to us as we progressed through our meal service. The beer selection was limited, I tend to enjoy micro & local craft beers. Mostly Bud, Coors, Miller, Michelob Ultra, and Corona. The wine selection was also limited, but Maria gave us a very “ generous pour” on my wife’s Cabernet & my Chardonnay!

We came to sample PIZZA. . . Options are Neapolitan & Sicilian ! We ordered an appetizer . . . Italian Salad with feta cheese on the side. Which was very good! Maria brought out our salads first, with fresh hot garlic rolls, thank you! We request they hold the pizza until our salad is finished. . . but it arrived early. Oh well, not that big of a deal.

Our medium Neapolitan pepperoni pizza was cooked PERFECTLY! Thin crusted pizza was slightly charred on the bottom which is 100% correct! The cheese is melted perfectly over the onions , with just enough pepperoni! . Love fresh hot pizza cooked perfectly! I’d only add abit more seasoning to the sauce? Very Good!

Our search continues for our FAVORITE local pizza in Waynesboro area!

Do You Know Your Pizza Styles

Neapolitan/Napoletano: From Naples, Italy
-Oldest style dates to 18th century
-Thin crust, tomatoes, garlic, EVO
-Cooked in wood oven over 700 degrees

New York: Thicker crust than Neapolitan
-Can add more toppings
-Add oregano, garlic, red pepper flakes
-Cut in big slices, like to fold as you eat

Chicago: Deep dish 1 to 2 inches thick
-Mozzarella in dough
-Oil in pan allows crispy crust
-Add meat, veggies . . . cook 30-35 mins.

Sicilian: Thick crunchy crust, cut in squares
-Robust tomato sauce
-Cooked in wood/coal oven
-At 425 degrees 15 – 20 minutes

Greek: Thick crewy, puffy crust
-Not as thick as Sicilian crust
-More sauce, less cheese
-Olives, feta cheese, red onions

Detroit: Thin crust cooked in square pans
-Spread dough to edge of pan, then sauce
-Spread Wis. cheddar cheese to edge
-Cook 500 – 550 degrees, 10 – 15 min.

St. Louis: Thin crust like cracker w/o yeast
-Cheese mix ( Swiss, provolone, cheddar)
-Sweet tomato sauce
-Cook on pizza stone, lowest oven rack

California: 1970’s by Chef LaDou
-Thick or thin crust
-Be creative with ingredients
-Try mustard, goat cheese, artichokes, etc.

We ordered margerita pizza, antipasta salad, and calamari during halftime of the Broncos/Bills game. It was ready when stated and the food was off the hook! Great value.

Absolutely phenomenal takeout experience!

This place is hands down the best spot for takeout pizza! The food is incredible — and ready right on time. But what really sets this place apart is the exceptional customer service.
From the moment I placed my order, the staff was kind, helpful, and welcoming. And I have to mention the owner — truly amazing. You can tell they genuinely care about their customers and take so much pride in both the food and the experience.
That kind of personal touch is rare these days and really stood out.

If you’re looking for delicious pizza and service that makes you feel like family, look no further. 10/10 recommend — I’ll absolutely be back!

I don’t typically write reviews like this, but in this case, it was necessary. I ordered delivery on DoorDash, and I was extremely disappointed with what I received. I’ve never seen this type of restaurant prepare a pizza so sloppily (see the picture).

The cheese was unevenly applied, with it being heavily concentrated in a single area. About 60-70% of this concentration was also on just one slice. You can also see that some areas have no cheese at all, and the chicken and olives were lazily thrown on and not spread out.

The dough also tasted kind of yeasty compared to other similar pizzerias I’ve tried. While it didn’t smell or taste like typical commercial pizza, it definitely did not feel like the same care was being put into its preparation.

PS: I live in Alexandria and was staying at WWRC in Fishersville. My judgment is largely based on what I have at home.

How in the world have I just found this diamond in the ruff? This place is freaking SPECTACULAR! The Philly Steak Stromboli is indescribable it’s that good! Fried pickles? Definitely hand breaded & fried to perfection! Can’t wait to try even more of their menu! 100% MUST TRY! Kudos & keep up the great work!

UPDATE 12/29/2023 – Have to change my review, the last few times we’ve ordered here it has been less than worth it. Just today, I ordered a club sandwich with NO PORK! 1st off, who doesn’t toast the bread on a club sandwich? & there was ham, although they were smart enough to NOT put bacon. Then to throw hot fries on top of untoasted bread that has mayo turned into a horrible, soggy, warm mess that I couldn’t eat because it had ham. The quality of the food has really taken a downward turn & was hoping it was just a staffing issue that many restaurants have experienced. These last few times the food was lack luster & this is the 5th time we order & the food is horrible & NOT the same as the first…AT ALL. Big disappointment & probably won’t be ordering again any time soon.
