The bagels are amazing. Full to the brim with cream cheese everytime. The coffee? Not so much. Everytime I order an iced mocha expecting it to be different. The syrup isnt mixed in with the shots to melt the syrup so it sits on the bottom and your first couple of sips are JUST syrup. I like my drinks sweet but however they measure the amount of sweetness is too much. It never fails to make me feel sick. To the baristas at nyb: shots and syrup, then ice and milk. Stop making inedible drinks! I want to enjoy this place but the coffee ruins it everytime.

The bagel itself is – meh. You’d be better off going to Einstein’s than this place and that’s not a knock on Einstein’s, it’s just the bagels here are nothing exciting. We paid $36 for 2 bagels and 2 lattes, and it really wasn’t anything special. I would say that I’d give them at least 2 stars, but the lady taking our order (whom I believe is the owner based on other reviews) is doing her best to keep the experience as New York as possible apparently, because she’s just rude. If you get up to her with her tablet and don’t know what you want as soon as she asks you what you want, be prepared to get yelled at. I get that it’s a busy place, they need to go through this quickly, but a little bit of customer service goes a long way – it’s not like we’re not paying for our food.

Just letting other people know I found a hair embedded/baked into the bagel. I’ve also experienced the owner being vocally aggressive with her high school staff. I’ve tried to give this place a few chances but after this I think I’m good.

Not sure if it quite NY good, but it is a very good bagel! Nice little breakfast and lunch sandwich joint and/or a nice local pitstop for some caffeine and sugar (skip Starbucks and support local businesses).

This place makes hands down the absolute best bagel sandwiches you can get anywhere. The bagels are always fresh and tasty and they never skimp on sandwich ingredients! They load up on meats, veggies and especially cream cheese! I always get the New Yorker which has lox, bagels, capers, onions, lettuce and tomatoes. It is always fresh and delicious. We go there every other Saturday morning. It’s cozy, Friesland consistently good!

Look I’m from MN so I accept all bagels with an open heart and from a place of unbiased opinions. This bagel was FANTASTIC and the veggie cream cheese had legit crunchy chunks of veggies in it… I didn’t even know I wanted that in my cream cheese until today. I got mine to go but could tell by the clientele this is a local gem.

Clearly authentic bagel joint, one particular employee seemed overwhelmed by having people in the shop. We were a group of four and we were trying to figure out the menu seemingly out of the way, and were told bluntly to get out of the line and let people order. Which is fine, didn’t feel like we were in the way. I would say the cream cheese is excellent, the bagels are nice and thick and hearty if that makes sense. Taste was pretty solid, but as a sandwich i would go to
big daddy bagels or a more standard chain for a bagel sandwich. the shop was way too warm and for being there a few times in many different weather its usually warm. decent area to sit down, and nice area outside to eat as well. Don’t know if I will go back due to the customer service being a little too “blunt” however if you want good bagels and cream cheese go for it! Def worth giving it a try I would say!

I’ve been going here for over 20 years. It is the best breakfast in South lakewood. I particularly enjoy eating on the patio on a nice day. I also love that they employee teens. Giving our future generations a chance to learn how to work and provide good customer service is so important.

It was my first time here. The older lady who was baking the bagels was yelling at her staff and belittling customers about their bagel choices. Because of this, I changed my order to save the hassle. When I ordered my two sandwiches I modified one to have a different meat and specified with the cashier. She said she got it. When I got my food, it was wrong and so I asked just to clarify and the ladies started arguing with each other about whether they messed up or if I messed up and then the cashier asked if I wanted to get it fixed with a terrible attitude. At that point, it was such an awful atmosphere and experience that I left. I didn’t even get my original choice of food and the alternative I got was wrong. Wouldn’t recommend.
