We stayed at the Holbrooke Hotel this last Monday thru Wed. We had some friends who were joining us to celebrate my wife’s birthday. We all enjoy good wine but cannot afford great wine. I stumbled thru the back of the shop and ran into John(the owner). Although he was closed he welcomed me. The shop was full of interesting wines and not the usual suspects that you can buy at BevMo or Safeway. I bought a “growers champagne” that he highly recommended. As far as the money that I spent the wine more than held its own with Bollinger and Bilecart Salmon which would be comparable. If you are at the hotel or downtown GV this would be a good place to get an interesting bottle of wine at a fair price

Goggled wine tasting, New West Wine came up. Said open. Walked in, noticed sign on door wine tasting Thursday and Saturday. I asked the gentleman if they only did tastings on those days, was rudley told yes. Then was told he’s not a bar! Just WOW. Don’t care how good the wine is won’t be back.
