The food is not the best but decent enough to finish it. I ordered a Chicken tawa combo with naan and rice.
The naan came with the combo which was soft and amazing the rice is also cooked properly. The chicken tawa is on the other hand mediocre. Not gonna recommend that.

The most important thing about Indian cuisine is that it is handmade from scratch. Let me explain. Unlike many cuisines eaten and enjoyed worldwide, Indian dishes are made using fresh raw materials only. The gravies are usually made using a base of onions, tomatoes, yogurt or ground spices. Often, the whole procedure of making the curries take 3-4 hours. When it comes to chicken and other meats, sometimes the marinade itself has more than 20 different spices in it. To put it simply, Indian cuisine is best described as complicated.

New Taste of India is by far the best authentic Indian restaurant in Antigua. The chef hails from suburbs of India and absolutely nails the dishes. I know it’s difficult, especially for a restaurant outside India to serve authentic versions of Indian dishes because the food is generally spicy and flavorful. However, the chef here mellows down the dishes without compromising on the taste. I think, that is what I love the best about the food here.

The prices are reasonable and much lower than the average price at any other Indian restaurants here in Antigua. (There are only two other Indian restaurants here, lol. )

The ambience is not amazing. However, hygiene is well maintained. (I have seen the owner and his family having meals at the restaurant.)

Looking for recommendations? My favorites are chicken lollipops (marinated, deep fried chicken drummets) and goat curry. You can also try channa masala or chickpea curry with naan bread and chilli garlic noodles if you’re feeling adventurous.
Here you can also see some glimpses of the Diwali buffet dinner in the pictures below. They host special buffets with elaborate menus on special occasions or Indian festivals. Please enquire at the counter or follow their Facebook page to keep track.

I was at New Taste of India for the 3rd time. They do have lovely food as advertised, but would offer only half what you ‘d ordered as take away and warn you to make sure you get what you ordered.

Beware of the spicy!

I am a man who has never been known to shy away from spicy foods BUT New Taste of India is one of the establishments where I met my match.

My proud affirmation of the “spicy” chicken roti led to me sweating bullets later for lunch.

I gladly say Mildly spicy on all my latter orders.

The goat roti is prepared well and full of veggies. The meat is nice and tender.

I love to order the cheese naan while I am there. I have yet to order one of the dishes from the menu but I plan to in the future and I’ll upload the pictures. Stay tuned.

Good Indian food. Service is slow. I called today and they told me 30 minutes for pickup. 1 hour 15 minutes later I was still there. This was the second time I have had to wait for more than half an hour after they have set a pickup time. Also, I accidentally bought Chinese food here when the current management first took over the restaurant (it was previously a Chinese restaurant). DO NOT but the sweet and sour chicken (I will not be buying anything other than Indian food). It was not sweet and sour chicken, and it was horrible.

We went to this restaurant on 24th Jan(today) few hours ago and ordered few items for take away… we are working on the ship and we had very limited time and they take so long to prepare. We had drinks and lunch from cheers bar and went back to collect the food we ordered. They were busy and rushed just like before and they just pack our food which they kept aside, we arrived on board and distributed our food. Shrimp biryani and 1 combo was missing. We are coming back on 1st February and make sure you give me back my money or food. Our total bill was $107 and I gave you $110. I’m not happy at all
