New Penny Cafe

I meant to review this wonderful place just over a year ago ( it was a crazy year so I had forgot for a while).
I really cannot recommend a place more than this place. Not only was the food ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS and reasonably priced but the service was OUT OF THIS WORLD! I had called about hosting a small bridal shower there for a friend. They were quick to say yes and worked with us to figure out what kind of menu or order type we wanted. And they surprised us with some complimentary treats and drinks! They allowed bring our own decorations and helped with everything we needed! If you are even thinking about coming here or using them, just do it! You will not be disappointed!

I’ve been a long time customer at New Penny for the last several years. It’s often my go to spot in my local area for several reasons: amazing/unique food, enjoyable comfort drinks alongside refreshing new seasonals, and lots of comfortable seating. Sadly that’s changed over the past few times I’ve been there.

Today, I came in, looking forward to sitting in one of their 4 window-side overstuffed swivel chairs only to discover they’d mostly been replaced with tables and stools. This is the 3rd furniture rearrange in the last year and by far the worst because the comfortable seating has largely been replaced with straight back chairs and stools. It immediately felt like New Penny didn’t want me to stay a while, but rather I should order my drink and food, eat, then leave right after rather spend time enjoying the atmosphere and socializing. I hate to say it but it felt closer to Starbucks or Dutch Bros than the New Penny I enjoyed before.

Additionally the couch and overstuffed chairs have been pushed over by the artists’ boutique area, effectively cutting it off from the rest of the coffee shop. It used to feel open and integrated into the space, and was one of my favorite areas to browse for unique and locally made items. But now it feels like an after thought crammed in the corner.

It makes me wonder what direction New Penny intends to progress in the future. If they continue to model themselves after “modern” coffee shops with stiff seating and a corporate atmosphere, I think I will not be coming back. :’(

Great restaurant. The early mornings and Sundays are my favorite to wind down, pleasant atmosphere and excellent food worth every penny. The Big Boy Bagel is in the name and quite filling. As an AZ native I recommend it highly.

I love the atmosphere of Penny Café! It’s bright, and the customer service is fast and respectful! However, their gluten-free bread options were dense and not the best (but I am thankful they have GF options!). Also, their avocado spread is very cheap-tasting and smooth like the Walmart dip?

They have gluten free bread, gluten free açaí bowls, and have affordable food options! My breakfast was only $12!

What a cute little spot! I had the chicken and waffles and husband had the tater tot bowl. The coffee was excellent best dirty chai I’ve had in a while. Cute little shop to browse while waiting on food. Will definitely be back.

We ordered two BLVD burritos, and they were excellent—great flavor and generous size. We also got two iced lavender lattes, which were good. The atmosphere and vibe are nice, making it a cool spot to hang out.

Unfortunately, the experience was a bit soured by a less-than-friendly staff member who took our order. But the biggest shock was the price—over $50 for two burritos and two coffees. That’s just too much. We’d love to come back, but with these prices, it’s hard to justify.

Been wanting to get down to check this out and was happy to have been there. Had the big boy bagel, a half order of biscuits and gravy, and a power bowl. Threw in a few morning bloody Mary’s too. Everything came out flavorful and done right. The biscuits and gravy was excellent and huge for a half order. Service is, well quirky and lines were along but all handled well with plenty of seating to stay. Pricing was fair and selection more modern for food choices. All good things. Worth a stop.

The vibe and atmosphere is great. I’ve had 3 diff dishes from this place and the food really isn’t good,especially for the pricing. It’s very cheap low quality food even though the presentation is usually goos. Food is not worth the money but the lemonades are really good!

The pic in this review was take out but I’ve dined in 2 different times as well. I’ve tried both breakfast and lunch items

I really love this place. It can get very busy on the weekends but during the week day there is plenty of space. The drink and food is great and fairly priced I think. Also saw this gorgeous flower arrangement by FERN Floral Studio!

So I went straight after the gym during the week. I got there around 6 o’clock in the morning. I approach the register where I placed the order. They weren’t very inviting probably cause I looked like a hot mess since I just came from the gym I asked for their best burrito. They recommended the Boulevard burrito that you ordered it. I was in disbelief that it was $19 after taxes and they asked for a tip I was about to cancel it, but I didn’t want to since I already placed it. I asked for salsa. They said they don’t have salsa that I can take some Cholula home. I was in shock of how much the burrito was and it was not good at all. I feel like I wasted almost $19 down the drain. I took two bites of it and then threw the rest away. Save your money you guys
