A staple of Ferderal Way that has won best Chinese food for several years. The family run restaurant is always friendly and welcoming. Great lunch specials at more than fair prices. Their General Tsos chicken is some of the best I have had. Always leave full and looking forward to coming back.

We got an ad by mail and decided to try it because it specifically mentioned that they have vegetarian gluten free options.

They delivered! The food is delicious! This will be our go to place for Chinese food.

Hadn’t been here in at least 20 years. Have been hearing good things about it so decided to give it a try for lunch. Best decision I’ve made in a long time …. Their lunch specials are $12.95 and 13.95 and they is enough food to have plenty of leftovers. We started with tea and egg flower soup, wonton soup, and hot and sour soup. All of them were excellent and they make them fresh every day. I’m looking forward to coming back here and trying their sizzling rice tomato prawn soup!!
We did get an appetizer plate for two and it was good, but you get enough food that you don’t really need it unless there’s something on there that you really love. I had the Mongolian beef with fried rice. It was definitely one of the best Mongolian beefs I’ve ever had. The beef was not chewy had good flavor and I loved all the vegetables that they put in it even though some people complain about them. It had water, chestnuts, bamboo shoots, green onions, mushrooms, and carrots, and it was served over the crunchy noodles. Definitely coming back and having this again. My daughter had the honey walnut prawns, and they two or exactly like they were supposed to be.
The owner is a very sweet woman who’s on the restaurant for 11 years and she did come from grand Peking, which was my favorite Chinese restaurant for 35+ years. She makes the food the same as the grand Peking did but in some cases maybe even a little bit better
All of this for lunch set the two of us back $50 and we still have enough leftovers for at least two meals!!

35 years of the same chef. 11 years ago the Chef bought the business and runs it with his wife. They have a full Vegan/Vegetarian Menu as well if you ask for it. Sauces made in house. Favorites are Orange Tofu, Mongolian Tofu, Moo Shu, and the personalities who welcomed us in.

I’m so glad to have found this gem. I grew up in China and I’m vegan. While vegan Chinese food options are common in the US, they are usually limited and taste mediocre, so I had learned to rely on Thai and Vietnamese restaurants to quench my cravings until I found the New Peking Wok.

They have a dedicated vegan menu. Each dish is incredibly delicious and flavorful. I don’t know how they make them so tasty, and I know what you are thinking – it’s not MSG. I am allergic to MSG and they never use it. The food still tastes freaking amazing without me having to worry about getting a migraine the next day. Their dishes are also not greasy like typical American Chinese restaurants.

The moo shu tofu with thin pancakes is fantastic, and so are all their tofu dishes, with perfectly fried tofu. The texture and flavor are on point. Don’t forget to ask for the chili oil to go with everything (it’s flavorful and not spicy).

The atmosphere is also very relaxing. With soft piano music in the background, it’s easy to have conversations.

Aside from the delicious vegan food and relaxing ambiance, the owners Lisa and her husband, the staff (Yun, Angel, Ada), and the chefs are all exceptionally friendly. Every time I visit there, it feels like going to see my big auntie and her family. It’s not because I happen to have the appearance of a lost Chinese kid in a foreign land, they treat every customer with such kindness and enthusiasm.

I only wish I lived closer so I could visit more often. If you love vegan Chinese food, definitely give them a try.

One of the only Chinese restaurants I’ve found that actually understands gluten free and caters to it! My bf loves Chinese but it’s usually a no-go for celiacs. This place will make just about any of their classic rice dishes gluten free and use gluten free soy sauce so it’s super tasty still! The kind owner even came out to bid us goodnight and recommended other gf dishes to try next time. While they don’t have a gf menu, they are very knowledgeable about what I could have. We even loved the pot of hot
Tea they brought to our table. Prices were also very reasonable. We will be back for sure!

ABSOLUTELY NOT IMPRESSED.
**Sweet and sour chicken fried rice
The sauce was nauseatingly sweet and super thick! I’m sorry, but what? Even when I scraped the majority of the sauce off the chicken itself tasted very processed.

The rice was okay except a little greasy.

The egg drop soup was really thick too. I do not understand that either.

I asked a simple question when I came through the door about seeding and I was met with “we’ve been here for 45 years and …..!” So instead of just answering a simple question I’m spoken to like I’m an idiot?

We won’t be back.

Wow! I almost never write a review unless the place is very bad.
Wouldn’t recommend this place if you like to eat healthy food, almost everything is fried food.
Not to mention that the building is very old and dirty. I gave this place a try after I saw that the got the best of chinese 2025 in Federal Way. Not sure how they got this recognition but is too far away to get this prize.
Sorry but, this place deserves this review.
The waiter was rude with her comments and talked to much, after she left the place was peaceful.
If you like cheap crappie food this is your place.

This was the first and last time I go to the New Peking Wok. It started off great I walked up to the door and it smelled awesome! Went inside where I called in my order and it was ready fast, a little too fast. The person at the counter was not very friendly and made me feel like she was In a rush. I gave her my card she swiped it and said my card didn’t work. I assume she turned it around because it worked. She then hurried me out the store. I went home which is less then a mile away, made a plate sat down to eat and guess what it was cold. Not only cold, but the rice is different (in a bad way) the chow main was not like anything I had ever seen before (and cold),the General Tso chicken was mushy(and cold). I had been wanting some Chinese food for days when I seen that the New Peking Wok was voted best in Federal Way. I want to know who voted for this to be true? Did they eat the food? Did a family member work there? Where they paid off? I need to know names!!! I won’t be going back to the New Peking Wok or the old one!
