We were a table of 2x and our food took an unfortunate amount of time. There seemed to be only three people working this entire restaurant… during a weekday lunch rush.
The food was good, and pretty clean but the wait and inattentive staff truly made this place a call for help. I would not return.
Our server was Shamaria. I’m not sure if she was a new server or not but the service I received personally was terrible. I ordered the southern combo with chicken, greens, cornbread and macaroni. I didn’t realize it came with an additional protein (that’s on me), but the food runners brought my food with ribs and I don’t eat pork due to dietary restrictions. It took Shamaria 10 minutes to come check on us regarding our order after receiving our food. I informed her that I wasn’t informed my meal came with two proteins. She said the ribs is what just came with it. I informed her of the menu saying I could also get catfish. She said she would take it back and get the fish. My order took about 15 additional minutes for ONE piece of catfish. Within that time, I had no silverware to eat my sides and by time my proteins came back, my sides were cold and the chicken that was already on the plate was also cold (not sure why she took the entire plate not to remake my proteins since they touched and I have a dietary restriction to pork…). The entire time there Shamaria had to be flagged down by members of my table, other servers and the Halloween staff for our bill, straws, drinks and a box for my order. It was so bad, the Halloween staff announced we had to leave before the next group comes and she still hadn’t come with our check or additional drinks after we informed her we wanted it. My husband then, in the actual tavern/bar part of the place, handed her the check and she took it from him and sat it down next to her. She was so rude that he left and came back to get our check after we noticed she swiped the card. Eventually she swiped our card, handed it back to him and said “have a good night” and rudely walked away never returning to our table at all. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. We will NOT be back.
I also asked about the Saturday happy hour (9–12 AM) that’s advertised on your Instagram, but the bartender insisted it didn’t exist and seemed irritated that I even asked. If there’s no happy hour, that’s fine — but there’s no reason to be rude to someone who’s visiting for the first time.
