If you’re looking for authentic Bangladeshi or Indian food then you should give them a try.
From Idly to samosa chat to pani puri and noodles, we loved it all.
The staff was nice !
After unpacking my first order I realized chickpeas had been substituted for chicken. I called and. was initially directed to contact Grubhub for a refund. Then, they immediately called back to offer compensation on my next visit. Specially, an individual named Hassan asked me to order directly from them, mention what happened, and he’d throw something extra in the order to encourage me to return. I agreed to try again.
The next week I placed my order through them and left a note addressed to Hassan. I know it was received because my note is on the printed receipt stapled to my bag. However, no compensation or further apology was offered, and my order took over an hour to prepare without communication. I can’t help but feel like their attempt to compensate for their mistake was with a hope I would forget. Well, I didn’t. Mistakes happen, but dishonesty or (best case) not reading receipts aren’t conducive to driving repeat business.
Alright, one more shot. I ordered and picked up. Two items were completely missing, no one said anything to me about it, and they actually insisted the samosas I didn’t order were compensation. The problem is I was still paying for items they didn’t give me. The employee blamed DoorDash for not allowing them to contact customers. When I told him I’ve had issues through GrubHub, DoorDash, and their own site he smiled and suggested a request a refund.
Note; food quality is very mediocre. The special biryani and chicken saag were nicely spiced and reasonable portions. However, the veggie biryani was full of frozen peas, carrots, etc with ghee molded to the bottom of the container. The okra was also drenched in oil.
There are too many superior options in this area to ever order from New Deshi. You can easily find an alternative that actually cares about the food and people they serve.
So when we saw this restaurant under new ownership and read about momos, we decided to stop by. We were glad we did!
Happy met us at the door and we knew it was going to be a fabulous meal and experience.
We tried chicken momos, grilled paneer appetizers, chicken tikka masala and lamb korma. All were perfectly spiced/seasoned and sooo tender. Also enjoyed naan and potato paratha and rice.
Happy was attentive as he always is and brought the owner/chef to the table to say hello.
We enjoyed some delicious orange sorbet slices to cleanse the palate.
We will be sure to stop back and explore the rest of the menu soon.
THANK YOU HAPPY…WE MISSED YOU!
Note – To the ones who are expecting opaneer/gobhi 65 to be like manchuri just a heads up its a very dry item its more like a kabab. It is not served with any sort of chutney or sauce.
Service was very quick .
