I’m surprised this place is so popular compared to so many better pizzerias and Italian restaurants nearby, like Gianni who makes a far superior Grand Ma’s pizza like a Detroit style with crispy cheese edges called frico or ViaSposito who makes a great personal pizza.

Their pizza is still confusing to me. It’s great when it’s freshly cooked but after an hour, the dough becomes very chewy and not palatable. I’ve yet to figure out why this happens. Their salad pizza is basically salad tossed onto baked dough, very odd

I’ve finally figured out why their dough is chewy after sitting at room temp. It’s the type of wheat used. Typically pizza dough is made with 00 flour which is a soft wheat. Hard wheat which has a higher protein content, like bread flour, tends to be chewy.

Their garlic knots are ok, sometimes hard and not tender and sometimes overly soaked in olive oil like Chiafullo. It’s a toss up and not consistently appetizing.

The worst item on the menu is the wings. Typically wings are either baked or fried. I’ve even seen them par boiled and then fried to expedite the delivery of wings within minutes.

However here at New Corner, they boil their wings and then toss them in buffalo sauce and serve it. Why it’s this method bad?

By boiling the wings, yes you’ve cooked it but you did not render the fat on the skin and so therefore you are left with a rubbery textured skin. That’s why if you boil, you must follow it up with either baking or frying to render the fatty skin so it will become crispy.

Absolutely fantastic Italian food. John and Angela have been here for many decades. They have that “secrete family recipe” quality that only first generation Italians have. They are by far the best Italian restaurant in Middletown, Red Bank and the surrounding area. We are lucky enough to be in their delivery radius. It’s addicting good.

The food is absolutely fabulous at an amazing price for what you get! There are plenty of options for everyone & is an incredibly clean & calm atmosphere. The staff is super friendly. Went for both my parents birthdays & believe it may just be our go to spot from now on. Highly recommend for great Italian. 2 !

Amazing food. We had our boys birthday party catered – the food was so delicious! The pasta was all home made, not out of a box, and so flavorful ⭐️ The cannolis are some of the best I’ve had in a long time …. All our guests loved the food. Thank you Angela for taking care of our fam!

Good food, great people

9/28/23= new experience, Buffalo Pizza excellent, garlic knots dry, egg plant parm tasteless, Buffalo wings, well soupy. This writer needs suggestions on excellent Italian, no more mediocre.

I’ve been going since I was a little girl and they’re like family to me. I remember there was a farm to table who made the best bread in town, and they would get the dough from New Corner.

The food and Pizza is great, but the waitress nonsense every time I go in for a quick slice of pizza for lunch is just getting tired. I don’t need a waitress to bring me my slice of pizza which ultimately winds up costing me $3 extra for her tip. Food is expensive enough.
They should keep the front Pizza counter separate from the restaurant seating area.

Phenomenal pizza by the slice, great little corner spot, and take out is clearly a hit. Parking is plentiful, lots to do in the surrounding area. Customer service is top notch, friendly and accommodating…the food comes with all of the accoutrements. Outside seating is great, good shade and a nice breeze.

It was relatively empty when I went, so I didn’t think it would be too bad to order two personal pies. Roughly an hour goes by, new customers coming in and getting food but we haven’t gotten ours yet. Eventually our waitress informed us that they lost our ticket. I was really bummed out because we had somewhere to be and the extra waiting left us no choice but to get the order to go. The waitress did apologize so I don’t fault staff, just an unfortunate and very inconvenient experience for my “dine in” attempt.
