Our food was not edible. We threw it out. The General Zhaos Chicken was awful. I am not even sure it was chicken. The egg dropsoup awful. Egg roll barely okay.

I went there during lunch time, the beef fried rice was very good and the highlight of my trip. I also had the chicken teriyaki which was a little
overcooked on the outside but was moist and tender on the inside but didn’t really have any flavor. The spare ribs were horrible they were extremely hard and tasted like they had been cooked two or three days ago.

Quick food that is very consistant. The staff here is always very nice to deal with. Good portion sizes for a very reasonable price. The Philly cheese steak rolls are really nice and a good break from traditional menu fare. Definitely a good place to try out many things in the menu. I’ve never ordered something I did not like here.

New China is the best Chinese food in the area! The staff is kind, helpful, and always greets us with a smile. The food is always hot, fresh, delicious and ready for pickup when they say it will be ready. They offer vegan and vegetarian options, and a really great variety of other types of food. We love this restaurant, and the family that owns and operates it. I can’t say enough wonderful things about them.

I like New China and their food is usually good. However, the last time I ordered from them I had a large order and they said it would be 40 minutes. I got there on time, but it took another 15 minutes. Some of the food that was in the deep fryer was cooked to long and was extra crispy and a little dried out . I think the problem is that there was only 2 people working and they need more help. I will order from them again.

Most of the time the food is pretty good, but the vegetable egg rolls are nothing special. They taste bland! I think that they purchase them from the dollar tree, because I have & they are very similar in taste!! China Taste on the other hand has good tasting spring rolls.

Its a shame that Allens is essentially in the same parking lot, and have this big beautiful restaurant. While Allen’s has some LOVELY people working there, who have been extremely nice every time I have gone there, and have a lovely atmosphere, New China absolutely blows them away in the food department. I cannot state enough how much I love their food and the family that runs it are the nicest, most humble people. 100% would (and do!) recommend them to anyone in Powhatan.

I come here frequently for lunch. Food is always good and inexpensive, service is fast, and the couple that owns the restaurant is really nice and friendly. Love the lunch shrimp with mixed vegetables!
