Tried New China recently and it was an average experience. The service was decent and the food came out quickly, but unfortunately the quality didn’t match the speed. The chicken was dry and lacked the bold flavor you typically expect from Chinese takeout. The sauce didn’t quite hit the mark either—it tasted a bit off, almost watered down. The fried rice was just okay, not terrible but definitely not memorable. If you’re in a pinch, it’ll do, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it again.

Say what you want about this Chinese take-out but end of the day and most importantly, the food is good. It’s not high end but at the same time, it shouldn’t be expected for a local carryout. They’re consistent and timely. Not perfect but again, consistently good. We’ve tried other local Chinese several times over the past 20+ years (Sampan and Montclair areas included) but our fam reverts back to New China.

Stopped for a snow day meal. We ordered sesame chicken with white rice and sweet and sour chicken with veggie fried rice, and use a coupon to get free egg rolls
Both chicken meals had soggy breading, and the sweet and sour tasted like soap. There were maybe 5 sesame seeds. The white rice was old, and cold. Vegetable rice was decent. Egg rolls okay. Our meal wasn’t worth the $35 spent.

It has been 2 years since we moved out of the area. So, while visiting friends, my wife and I decided to visit our favorite Chinese restaurant: New China. As always, we were greeted with the warmest welcome. The food as always was terrific. I ordered the Shrimp Chow Mein. It was great. The vegetables were not over cooked and very delicious. I also had a side of wings. They were well seasoned and crispy but not overly hard, like a lot of restaurants. My wife ordered her usual Shrimp and Broccoli and loved it. Next time we are in the area, we will be back.

They did not provide our full order. They shorted us our egg rolls and lomein order. Too expensive to be callous in their customers service.

I would rather have Panda Express than eat here again. Be careful on what you order because the orange chicken was still a bit raw and very chewy. The kunpao had no flavor just a bunch of sauce that taste like it was watered down. The white rice was hard to eat. The only good thing they had was the egg rolls .

I’ve stopped by the New China at Staples Mills Plaza for the very first time this weekend and ordered the General Tso’s chicken with white rice and steamed vegetables. All of the food was fresh and tasty and the vegetables were prefect! To me the chicken was good, but not spicy enough, however, that may just be due to my spice tolerance 🙂 The portion was really large and I ended up sharing it with my two teen sons who liked the food as well. Last but not least, the restaurant looked clean, had a welcoming atmosphere and all of the staff were very polite, kind and courteous, so overall this was a very positive experience. I don’t eat out very often, but I am sure I will be visiting this place again the next time I am too busy to cook.
