The OG of westernised Chinese institutions, this place has been here for as long as I remember. Haven’t been in a number of years and its much the same. A bit older.
Some of the dishes like the toothfish is still quite good. The sang choi bao aka seafood lettuce cups only has prawns in it now. I remember a decade ago it had scallops and was better then.
The sweet and sour chicken was very bicarby, didnt enjoy that at all. Pineapple fried rice was ok. Other than that service was quite good still.

Decor was nice and upscale. The upper dining area was refreshing but you’ll walk through a fair amount of cigarette smell to get there. Service was typical of Sydney- sparse and hectic, but when the servers did come they were nice.
Pretty loud room, and portions are small but flavorful. Prices are high. Two spring rolls, two small soups, and a plate of rice was $97. We went to another restaurant after this one to actually eat.
Not a place we will visit again,

We first visited this restaurant in 2007. 17 years later, it’s just as good. We weren’t expecting much the first time for an Asian restaurant in Sydney, but we were amazed. Even though the price may be a little on the high side, the quality and quantity is evident and it still continues to draw in the crowds.

My family and I enjoyed a top quality Chinese meal at the Neptune, with superb service. The staff were exceptional and attentive and the atmosphere was pleasant and conducive to conversation.

The food was perfect and delectable. We left nothing on the plates. Chinese food does not come any better. Everyone at the table was very pleased with the food and the service.

I can highly recommend this restaurant.

Got there 15 minutes before reservation. Ordered and they delivered. Before app was finished they brought the entries way too early. Really was looking forward to the crispy duck w/ pancake. Duck was not crispy, was cold and was not presented correctly. Did not taste well. One of our party ordered the salmon so we all shared that. Noodles ordered were very bland. They did take one of the dock orders off of the menu. Would not recommend, tourist trap…go to Chinatown for proper duck.

Chicken kapitan chicken was a disappointment this time around. It was to die for many years ago. The dish lacked flavour and coconut milk. Prices on the high side due to its location in Circular Quay. Service was wonderful and the waiter was friendly. He always had a smile on.

As mentioned in another review, this restaurant solicits for tips which seems to be the practice in more and more Sydney restaurants. Please stop this practice. There is no need to ask for tips when you provide good service.

Who knew lobster could taste better than crab bc wow I am converted now those pieces were so juicy and you don’t have to work as hard for the MEAT wagyu wasabi was delicious, pineapple fried rice was AMAZING ok I never get this but they cooked it so well it didn’t feel oily at all!! Roti was alright, mid goreng tasted like Singapore noodles from the Chinese takeaway shop but had tonnes of seafood in it. We also got fortune cookies and chocolates afterwards and don’t be afraid to ask for more bc I ain’t leaving with just one cookie after we spent $$$$$$$450+

Food was great, we really enjoyed the fried fish, followed by steam fish and then prawns. Beef was OK.

I was recommended this place to try while in the city. It’s a really great restaurant that is a mix of Chinese, Malaysian and halal.
I ordered the san chow bow, pineapple fried rice (which is served in a pineapple), beef chow hor fun, Asian veggies, salt and pepper squid, prawns. Every meal was delicious. When you get seated, you are served with prawn crackers while you want for your food to come out. At the end we were served with fortune cookies and mint chocolate slices. A great place to enjoy some delicious Chinese food.
