This place is a great honkey-tonk for your ba-dunkadunk. The owner and staff are attentive and operate one of the funnest spots to hang with friends and enjoy music in our music city. The food is served hot, fresh, and tasty. The bar is well provisioned. The beer garden and patio make an awesome stop when your out for a ride with friend on the bikes. Its motorcycle rider friendly. The dance floor is beautifully lit and the walls decorated with an essece of good music and its legends. NEON COWBOY is one of the GREAT venues in Big D. But most importantly, the owner of this place genuinely cares about the community she serves. It shows through a loving and charitable spirit of support for her establishment’s supporters.

The food sucked. I got french fries and I think I counted 50. The fries themselves didn’t really taste bad the cheese on top wasn’t great. I think it came up to like 15 cents a fry. And these were little.
Almost nothing for the price.
The drinks weren’t cheap.
And I’ve been told if you’re looking for a fight it’s a great place to go.
It just wasn’t my style.

I had a great time at Neon Cowboy in Dallas. The cheeseburger was juicy and flavorful. The atmosphere was full of energy, with country music, dancing, karaoke, and warm, welcoming service that felt like home

It’s been a VERY long time since I’ve closed a bar and I had no intentions of doing it last night. BUT… I had such an AMAZING time I just couldn’t leave!! I had the most fun I’ve had in years!! And I met some really great people and made new friends. I love this place!!
JUST SO YOU KNOW…
It’s $5 to get in and they ONLY TAKE CASH. There is an ATM inside if you need it.

The Neon Cowboy is an interesting bar, apparently a private one. You have to join up or sign up before you can sit a spell and pop a top. I guess the area is dry, I’m not really sure.
I first visited the Neon Cowboy in the 1980’s, I was wearing a hair helmet and some parachute pants. At the time they had a drink with Jack Daniels and Jolt Cola – Jolt Cola was popular for having twice the caffeine in it! So you might imagine that Jack kicker followed by a double caffeine buzz! I had more than one, of course.
Everyone told me I had a good time.

Recently I dropped by with my best friend, and strangely enough he had some very unusual Neon Cowboy stories to share, almost Urban Legend stuff. I’d tell those tales here and now but Google Security has been monitoring my adventures and I don’t think my missives would long survive.

He spoke fondly of the bars kitchen and even fonder of the cook, a kindly lady who is “no longer with us”.

This place serves Whiskey in clear plastic cups. That’s a down vote for me. The bartenders will line up the basics for you, and might have a fancy drink available if your lady friend asks for one, just so long as shes not too particular. It’s a fairly large bar and as I recall it’s tough to find a parking spot on week nights. They have a small stage and live music when they can land a band. There is an almost sequestered “back area” that looks awfully questionable but is likely just a reserved room – I really don’t know.

I like bars with character and this is one of them. If your a people watcher you can keep an eye on the front door and size everyone up as they walk in. I was told a long time ago not to walk into a bar and stop, most people do. Anyway in that brief moment when you pause at the front door- people are sizing you up.

I sadly anticipate that in my golden years I’ll be spending so much time here they’ll start charging me rent but until I “dive” in, I’m good for the occasional drop ins.

Do the same, drop in and visit one of “The Groves” oldest serving sit down bar. I’ll be back soon. Size me up as I walk in!

I’ve been coming to Neon Cowboy for a while with my friends and always had a good experience. The karaoke guy is awesome, and the blonde older bartender who has worked there forever is always so sweet. I’ve even had Patricia as my waitress on multiple occasions in the past without any issues.

However, on September 6th, 2025, I went up there with our usual crew. Patricia had been drinking and taking shots with us earlier in the night, then suddenly started screaming at me outside and accusing me of something I didn’t do. She then got in a physical altercation with my friends. When I went inside to get the security guard, she followed me in and physically shoved me to the ground. I hit my head hard enough to leave a bump. Multiple people witnessed what happened and even tried to stop her.

This behavior is completely unprofessional and dangerous — a waitress should never be assaulting customers. I truly hope management takes this seriously, because it could have ended much worse. People should feel safe coming here, this had been one of my favorite spots.

The bar is beautiful. And it would attract more customers if it was a bar that accepted card. The fact that you can only pay cash is the reason I will not be returning at this establishment. Bars who only accept cash are a dying market. You have to have both. And the fact that you make customers go and withdrawal money out of a ATM to make a purchase is insane in this economy! I always thought this place would be wonderful until I decided to visit it. Now I know why.
