tried this place last night and the food was unfortunately not good…the wings were a little burnt and the collards were dry + not well seasoned. the mac & cheese was dry and didn’t have much cheese or flavor. fried fish was just ok. i also ordered the homemade lemonade and received mango juice instead. atp I had already been waiting for my order for over 20 mins after the pick up time that was given so I didn’t want to stay there longer. i would maybe come back to try some ethiopian food from the place…

This is not an authentic soul food restaurant. The Ethiopia coffee ☕ was delish. The Jolllop rice was awful…no seasoning, just appeared to be rice and tomatoes paste ? The beer battered chicken wings disqualies this item as soul food- next time I’d order Ethiopian Food.

This is NOT a Soul Food restaurant. The mac & cheese looks & tastes as if I came out of the blue box with dinosaurs on it. The collards were too bitter to doctor up. Years ago, there was a Soul food spot in the area. I ordered sides online after a long day and was sorely disappointed. I can’t speak to the Ethiopian food but I’m sad to say the Soul food is every bit as terrible as previous reviews. I should’ve read them & saved the trouble. Also, the building has no sign for NeNe’s. It’s operating as part of the cafe of a different restaurant

We visited this restaurant toward the end of March and placed our order in person, not over the phone. While we were curious to try the combination of soul food and Ethiopian cuisine, we were left disappointed — especially with the soul food.
My in-law ordered the tilapia sandwich and didn’t enjoy it at all. The bread was hard, the fish portion was very thin, and the mayonnaise had a sour taste, which was off-putting. The overall flavor and quality did not reflect what we expected from a place promoting soul food.
The inside of the restaurant could’ve been cleaner, which added to the underwhelming impression. The lady at the front was very nice, and we appreciated her friendliness — but unfortunately, that was the only highlight.
In our opinion, soul food is not their specialty. We had higher hopes, but this visit missed the mark.

Let’s get one thing straight: I wanted to love this place. I’m Black, I support Black-owned businesses, and I pulled up ready to eat good. But what I got? That mac and cheese was so offensively bad I felt like I owed myself an apology for ordering it.
It was dry, flavorless, and looked like it had been punished before it got to my table. I’ve had more soul in a Saltine cracker. And every time someone leaves a factual, polite review, y’all respond like we’re trying to dismantle the civil rights movement. Please.
Yes, you’re Black-owned. And guess what? So am I. That doesn’t make your food immune to criticism. Being Black doesn’t mean we have to accept mediocrity in the name of solidarity. If anything, it should make you want to deliver excellence even more not hide behind identity every time someone calls out a dusty dish.
Fix the recipe. Stop the clapbacks. Stop gaslighting your own customers. We’re rooting for you but not at the expense of our palates.
Until then, I’ll support Black-owned spots that season their food and handle feedback like grown folks.

Food was ok. Nothing special. For the 2 of us they were including a 25% tip, food is way over priced already and they should leave the tip to the customer unless big party. So go through your check. The place is actually called Meza restaurant.

The Mac and cheese has no cheese. Sweet potatoe pie was store bought— do not order from here.

I went to order food and the service was absolutely terrible. The woman at the front counter was so dismissive when I asked where I could order. Her response was “the menu is online”. She proceeded to speak with the next customer like I wasn’t there so I left. Judging by the reviews I made the right choice. If you want some really good soul food, First Impressions is about 10 minutes away from this location and they will not disappoint!

I’m giving 1 star because u argue with customers too much and the food looks nasty. I would never come to this place because of your (the owners) bad attitude.
You are right, I don’t want to try it. Looks nasty.
