Got chili quilias came with two eggs, chips, beans, rice, and a type of meat that came in a bowl with the sauce. The meat was a little tough, and the sauce was a little bland. Everything was good overall just not my flavor. I will be back to try more dishes.

We visited Nena’s Mexican Cuisine in Stockton, CA for the first time with our family and had a wonderful experience. The portions were large, the pricing was great, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. We all really enjoyed our meal and will definitely be returning!

We visited because of the stars it has on Google but I do think is overrated.
We visited on a Saturday we understood the waiting time… it was around 10:30am and waited around 40 minutes to be seated food took exactly 32 minutes to be served… we had chorizo and eggs platter with rice and beans and Machaca and eggs platter with rice and beans… rice was salty beans were good chorizo tasted exactly as sausage not chorizo and the machaca needed salt( and I’m not a salty person) I had a cup of coffee and it was delicious but I asked for coffee 3 times to 3 different persons and they told me they were gonna send that girl that was helping us… so we left and I didn’t got a second cup of coffee and husband didn’t got a refill on his soda. Flour tortillas are delicious. Place is located perfectly for turist and locals , with great decoration but customer service needs attention.

Food is SOLID! My favorites: Carne en su jugo and the Vampiro tacos. I’ve not been able to find the flavor of the Carne en su jugo recreated elsewhere…I’ve been chasing this down for years, ever since the 1st time my uncle brought me here back in….hmm, well back before pandemic times! It is spicy, but that’s why I love it! The homemade flour tortillas are a work of art. It’s a lil pricey, but…every now & then, we make exceptions for good food. The portion of the Carne en su Jugo is more than enough to split; or take it home and make 3 meals of it.
Let’s just say I went out of my way to make a trip to Nena’s JUST for this before I flew out.

Last weekend I went to this little Mexican spot near my place and honestly it was pretty great. The chips and salsa came out quick and were warm n crunchy, and my chicken enchiladas had alot of flavor without being too heavy. The staff was friendly and kept checking in without bugging us. I tried a margarita too and it was strong in a good way lol. Prices felt fair for the portions. Place has a relaxed vibe, kind of like you’re eating at a friends house. I’d definately go back again and reccomend it if you’re in the area.

My husband got the fajitas and he loved them. I got the chimichanga and enchilada and it was awful. It was literally just chunks of meat in a tortilla, nothing else. The description talked about toppings like guacamole and sour cream, but I didn’t expect it to be that plain. The meat was also really bland.
The lady who took our order was very kind, but we only saw her that one time. No refills, no one checked on us. I know she was busy, but we waited 45 minutes and it felt like every time we made eye contact she looked away. We had ordered an appetizer and even told her we’d be ordering dessert too.
Eventually another woman noticed we had been sitting there not eating and asked if we needed boxes. I told her no, I just wanted the check because the food was awful. She was kind, took my food off the bill, and I asked her to please still charge me for the sides I ate. I didn’t want to not pay for what I did eat. She was quick and very nice about it.
I was just super disappointed with the service overall. If you go here, the beans are really good, the tortillas are handmade and great, and my husband’s fajitas were amazing. But I would stay away from the chimichangas and enchiladas.

They have good food to be honest the fresh tortillas are what make the food worth it. They have absolutely terrible service once in a while there will be a good server but most of the time you get rude servers with terrible customer service training. I understand they may be frustrated if they are super busy but they don’t need to take it out on the customer. Nena herself has told my family to report her servers who do a bad job to her personally. This past weekend I went in to eat they only serve menudo on the weekends and I went to eat some on Saturday and by the time we finally got seated they were all out. We were upset but ate something else anyway and two servers and the cashier lady let me know to order to go and they would put it aside for me and heat it up when I got there when I called the next day to do so they told me I could not do that and that they were just lying to me but yet they were the ones who gave me the information to do so they shouldn’t tell people to do something if they are not willing to perform the service.

Unfortunately I have to give this place two stars. The food was good, but not good enough to make up for the service. Our waitress was nice but she kept disappearing for long periods of time. We were left waiting for the check for more than half an hour after we finished our food, and then another ten minutes for her to collect payment.
