This place offers fantastic value. Huge sandwiches, generous portions of excellent quality ingredients, all for unbeatable prices. Where else can you get a huge sandwich or delicious salad for under 10 bucks? I’d eat lunch here everyday if I still worked in the area! If you haven’t been here yet, do yourself a favor and try it out! The good food comes with a good feeling of supporting a good local business.

Great salad bar. Very fresh and many options. My husband loved his sandwich. Very big portions. Line looks long, but moves fast. They have the best ages cheddar!

Today, 2/16/26, after feeling very down I stopped into Nelson’s with my wife for lunch. I recently lost a very close family member and I have been having a difficult time in general. Nelson’s staff was so kind and friendly and without having any idea as to what was going on in my world, they made me smile for the first time in days. The food as always was fantastic, but more importantly the sense of family and community Nelson’s exhibits is unmatched. Thank you Nelson’s for always being here for us and we will always be there for you.

This is my ideal sandwich shop. Prices are fair, sandwiches are made pretty quickly, and they don’t tack on any unnecessary service fees or flip their tablet around pressuring you to tip for counter service.

Each of our sandwiches was $8 and both were filled with ingredients. Compared to sandwich chains like Jimmy John’s, the value was incredible.

I was pretty hungry and ordered a Hot Hero with a side of pasta salad, but probably could have gone without the pasta. The sandwiches were filling and tasted great. If you are in a rush, order a cold sandwich, as the hot ones can take a few more minutes especially when it is busy. Otherwise, I really suggest a sandwich like the hot hero – it was so good.

All of the workers were kind and did their job very well… they run a tight ship in there and it shows. You may run into a little crowd around lunch time, but they move pretty quickly and their parking lot seems adequate

I will be back to try a few more items and will update the star rating if needed, but as of now, this is my new favorite sandwich shop in the twin cities. Thanks!

For the last decade I have had the same sandwich at Nelson’s. Always the Reuben. This year, I decided to not be a creature of habit and try every single one. This is hands down the best sandwich shop in Minnesota!! The food, the service, the people just everything top to bottom is on point all the time!!! Each one of these sandwiches was devoured promptly in the parking lot. Truthfully, I never make it far once the sandwich is in hand.

The food was so good it was incredibly difficult to rank each sandwich but I made a list anyway.

1. Hot Hero (w/ the special sauce!!)
2. New Orleans (Herb Mayo and Bacon)
3. Reuben (Try it on caraway Rye)
4. BLT OR BLTT (add turkey!!)
5. Meatball (This one surprised me!! The peppers were perfect!)
6. Hamline
7. Kansas City Bbq
8. Santa Fe
9. Philly Beef and Cheese
10. The Lexington
11. The Rachel

My advice. Get a club card and work your way down the menu. You won’t regret it!!

Hands down top 5 sandwich places in the Twin Cities! Love that they offer sprouts and their selection of sandwich fixings is incredible. Staff is super welcoming and friendly as well. They’re very quick to make your sandwich. Highly recommend!

This quick service deli tucked off Snelling and Como near the fairgrounds, offers a variety of options in their flavor packed menu. I would highly recommend a quick glance at the menu, as the setup inside can be quite overwhelming. The small space squeezes in a salad station, sandwich prep, deli case, drinks, chips, cheeses, and desserts.

Come hungry as the sandwiches are filling. I would recommend the New Orleans, a flavorful play on a buffalo chicken sandwich.

Also, please note that there is no seating, but there is plenty of parking behind the building.

Will be back to try one of the hot dog options and a dessert.

First time going. Got a Como Club, and my fiance got the Santa Fe sandwich. Got a hole pickle, and she really loved the flavor. It had a nice crunch, nice snap. I don’t like pickles, and I thought it was quite nice. The sandwiches were really fresh ingredients, lettuce was crunchy. Meats were nice and fresh. Got the beef sticks, really nice flavor. Get there when they open, line grew fast. Definitely a nice place to get good food. Local and small business!

I work nearby and have stopped here at least a few times each month for years. Only my wallet keeps me from coming more. I usually get the Santa Fe hot sandwich but the whole menu is good. If you love a salad that doesn’t feel sad, you can build your own from a bar of super fresh ingredients or choose one of their recipes – the Mardi Gras is my favorite. They have a big sandwich menu (cold and hot) and I have yet to choose one that disappointed. They also have hotdogs and the Coney and Chicago hit the spot when I’m craving a dog. If you’re getting a sandwich, make it a combo and try some of the pasta salad or soup. All of the ones I’ve tried are good and the Blue Walnut Chicken pasta salad they have on Wednesdays keeps my visits regular . Mark runs the show there and he and the rest of the staff are great.
