I stopped by Love’s Travel Center and found a cozy Mexican restaurant nearby that I walked to. The waiter and, I believe, the owners were incredibly friendly.
When my food arrived, I was truly impressed—not just by the presentation and taste but also by the outstanding customer service. The warm, welcoming atmosphere made me feel right at home, almost like being back in Texas.
I’ll definitely make it a point to stop by again for a meal the next time I’m in St. Joseph, MO.

Food was really good . The people are extremely nice. I had the combination with a taco and two enchiladas. They were hot and delicious. Will be back. Oh and the beer is ice cold!

Stopped for my 34 at Love’s nearby. Nelly’s is a place totally worth getting your dog-tired butt out of that sleeper. Have a short walk and enjoy the genuine mexican cuisine spiced with friendly service and relaxing atmosphere.

Went in for a drink, margarita was fine, salsa was good but a ridiculously small bowl. Ordered a small cheese dip for the chips. Very diluted with cream, so until it cooled off it was liquid. Overpriced and I was charged for things I didn’t receive. The place was dead, and I’m not sure why. The snack was nice, the margarita was good. I wasn’t impressed considering with the service since at 5:30 pm I was the only person there. I should never have had to wait for a refill. Also how did I get overcharged when no one else was there. I will go back, but I’ll watch the bill very carefully. It’s really a shame, this place could be good.

The service was nice. It is quite expensive, the food is americanized, not traditional mexican. We bought fajita and it was mostly onion which is unacceptable for 13.00 plate. I bought the super burrito, it came out way wrong and had to send it back, beans were not that great and rice was dry. Salsa and chips were good. Do NOT order any drinks from the bar. They are expensive and SUCK. We got a mango margarita that wasnt even made with tequila, if there was any alcohol id of been surprised. The strawberry daiquiri was, honestly not sure what the hell that was lmao, but it was not what i ordered. Again it wasnt mexican it was more american mex.
I dont mind spending good money on traditional mexican but for me to walk out spending 40 bucks not including the tip for what i ordered is pretty ridiculous.

Without any hesitation this has to be hands down the best authentic Mexican restaurant around this area which is family owned.
Absolutely delicious food serve here walking distance from Love’s Travel Center so if you’re a Truck driver yourself and spending time park just take a 3, minute walk to this gem of restaurant you won’t be disappointed.
Everything in their menu is top notch, made fresh by Chef Bryan so don’t second guess yourself and treat yourself to the best authentic Mexican food you will enjoy,.
