We also got a tri-tip sandwich but it was a bit dry, BBQ sauce was a quick and delicious fix. My husband liked it and ate it all.
Neil is just like you see on social media, wild and funny. He is a blunt and outspoken man so beware if you’re soft lol. It’s worth it for some of the best ribs you can find.
Now for the food. Everything was seasoned perfectly and smoked to perfection. The ribs were meaty and tender. The chicken and tri tip I would venture to say weee the best I’ve ever had. Seriously. He has BBQ sauce, but I have no idea what it tastes poke because you don’t need it. See that pic with the sauce in the background? You can leave it there because you don’t néed it. The chicken was extremely juicy and tender. I have no idea how he makes it so tender but sheesh.
The tri-tip has no fat whatsoever and is lean and tender.
If you are ever in Stockton this place is well worth the drive. I live in Bakersfield and I’m definitely coming back.
Enjoy the pictures, coming here is not just about the food. It’s an experience.
A chicken and pig boxing on top of the restaurant, and I’m thinking there’s no way chicken can beat pork at a BBQ place, and boy was I wrong … almost. Both were super juicy and savory, but I’ll still give the edge to the ribs. The ambiance was super chill: music was nice, chef checked on us a couple times. My Munchkins loved it!
Cash only, I didn’t have any but then chef said I could pay with Venmo or Zelle, so that was helpful.
And someone gave a drive-by compliment, saying “Best barbecue in town!”
After a whole rack of ribs ($30), half chicken ($10), super good chili ($5) and three sodas ($2 each) we concur!
Stay blessed, everyone!
We concur!
Under 30. bucks
Best to call before you go down because even though it says it’s open @11:00 it’s not always @ 11:00am.
However; if you go round to 2pm, it’ll be ready and raring to go, great prices.
And Neil is very friendly and nice and so is the other staff…
Every every week were in town we have to stop by once or twice
I came around 3 pm and tried there half slab for 15$ dollars. Just drive in, order on the spot. Owner just chilling at the front. The food was ready to take home to eat. The pork ribs was delicious and perfectly cooked and came with there bbq sauce on the side. I will be returning to try the whole menu when I’m craving for real bbq.
On a trip back up to Chico from LA, we stopped at Neil’s BBQ and I ordered a 1/2 order of the pork ribs. Everything was massively beyond my expectation: taste, friendliness, and service. You’ll be lucky if you catch the owner, Neil on site. He’s very personable and I had a great time shootin’ the s*** with him and Robert(very talented cook and certified BBQ bada**) these guys were a riot and I woulda hung out longer if I could.
The food:
On point and FIRE. Best BBQ pork ribs I’ve probably ever had. The sauce was something out of a vaulted chained family secret s***. Perfectly complemented the meat and texture.
Conclusion:
I don’t always roll through Stockton, but when I do, I will be sure to pay my brothers a visit at Neil’s kick in it BBQ!
