The Secret Eye
Né de Loup is a cozy little gem with a warm atmosphere and excellent service. It’s one of those places where you can actually enjoy a conversation because it isn’t noisy, which I really appreciated.

One of the standout dishes was the Torched Baby Gem Lettuce with lemon, pistachio two ways, crème fraîche, and chervil. The balance of flavours and textures was beautiful — the gentle torch flavour, the freshness of the lettuce, and the crunch of pistachios made it a really memorable dish.

The Braised Fennel was a wonderful surprise. I’m usually not a fan of fennel, but this dish tasted almost like a creamy onion soup — rich, cheesy, and very comforting, especially with the warm baguette.

The Red Tuna with Calvados-poached pears, blood orange aioli, and shaved foie gras had an incredibly delicate texture that melted in the mouth. I did feel the flavours were a little subtle though, and the aioli got a bit lost in the bite.

The Prawn Toast was enjoyable, but the French toast base slightly dominated the other flavours, so the prawn and accompaniments were a bit harder to pick up.

For dessert we tried the Basque Cheesecake with Cherries Jubilee. It was a pleasant dessert, but for a restaurant of this level I might have expected something a little more distinctive — perhaps a classic like a Mont Blanc or another refined pastry.

I also had the Ernest whiskey cocktail, which was smooth, balanced, and very enjoyable.

The restaurant itself feels intimate and charming. Personally I would have preferred slightly brighter lighting, as it was a bit dark for my taste, but the cozy atmosphere makes it a lovely spot for a relaxed dinner.

Overall, a charming place with thoughtful dishes and a welcoming atmosphere.

Excellent service, good food, good wine.
Like the small menu, ordered 3 dishes, creative and well executed.
Love the hamachi amandine.
Probably the best service I have ever had in town, the waiter/som he knows the menu well, he knows his wine well, well done.
Reservation is recommended.

Arguably one of the best dining experiences in Winnipeg, and no surprise; Scott Bagshaw is a master. Every dish is created with excellence, the staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and the wine pairings are perfect for the dishes.

Né de Loup was absolutely phenomenal!

We had the gem lettuce, hamachi, duck crepe, beef cheek bourguignon, and the fried chicken with caviar. Every dish was fantastic! Thoughtful, balanced, and beautifully executed.

The service made the experience even better. He was quick, polite and genuinely attentive without being intrusive. Great recommendations, seamless timing, and most importantly, he never hovered or interrupted the flow of conversation, something that’s surprisingly rare these days. It felt natural and effortless.

An outstanding experience from start to finish.

Came here for my birthday . We went with the scallops, duck crepe, red tuna with crouton, and fried chicken with caviar. I loved the scallop with the chowder. It had great flavor, and the scallop was perfectly cooked. The red fin tuna also tasted really good with a tangy flavor. The duck crepe was okay and the goat cheese was a nice added touch to the dish. I liked the fried chicken (great seasoning). The Osetra caviar was a little pungent for caviar. Overall, I think most of the dishes tasted good and had nice execution. I took one star off as the pricing is quite a bit higher than equally as good restaurants in the city. Great service.

Sharing a lovely evening with my good friend when the owner began to stare at us and then look at his watch and then talk to the staff. I could take the hint and when I asked the employee laughed and said yes we have another reservation in 20 minutes. Totally spoiled our evening, we won’t be back or recommend as the food was lack lustre at best.

A cozy and simple designed restaurant with a curated chef menu. The options are few but it should satisfy most pallets.

The plates are meant to be share so for a party of two we were recommended to get 4 dishes. Reservation at this place is pretty much a must for dinner as the place only hosts a handful of tables.

The food was pretty great but you must be open to enjoying more interesting flavors.

Went to the restaurant today for the first time to celebrate my birthday. It’s a small restaurant that has around 12-14 small tables. Our server was above and beyond, she explained to us the components of our dishes; food will be placed on the table one by one. We’re really happy and impressed with our food. Dishes are often in small size and to share between 2 people. The price was worth it for the flavour.(except the fried chicken was kinda mid). Definitely we will be back again!!

What a nice little eatery! Found it online, read the reviews and decided to give it a shot for date night with the wife. The food was absolutely amazing! I was a bit skeptical at first and concerned about portions seeing that I was hungry and the dishes had to be shared but was pleasantly surprised that it was perfect to share.

The only downside to this lovely dining experience was that we were seated close to the flimsy entrance and within an hour I couldn’t feel my toes as it was COLD. It’s a busy place so the doors were opening regularly. I suggest a portable fireplace or something to keep the diners warm.

We heard Enoteca was revamping so we had to visit them before they did! And it didn’t disappoint!

A lot restaurants in Winnipeg nowadays are adapting to the sharing plates style and I love it as we get to try almost a bit of everything in the menu. We had 4 dishes for 2 people with average stomachs and it was enough to fill us up.

Favourite dishes were probably the pappardelle and cauliflower! Flavours were amazing in both dishes and you could really taste the crab within the pappardelle. Would definitely order that one again.

We did find the pork belly a little harder to eat and I would say the sauce is definitely needed for that one but other than that, it was yummy. The pickle in that dish was delicious.

Atmosphere was good! Reserved online and got seated promptly when we arrived. We can’t wait to see what Enoteca’s next iteration will be!!
