The service was excellent. Our server was great helping us navigate the menu and spice levels.
Don’t let the crazy location fool you. This place is incredible
The place is small but has a nice vibe.
Prices are a bit high. Got charged $2 for a 2 sips of raita.
Give it a try and see if you like it. The taste’s better than the average Indian restaurants!
As their name implies the cuisine is Hyderabad, South Indian. Internet and menu card boasts a four country presence and I have only tried one so far.
The place in Upper James is cosy (used to be Green leaf) and the decor is brand new.
Parking is free and adequate.
The place is definitely well above the average in terms of decor, crockery and cutlery.
The menu is extensive and reliance on Vaishnavi proved vital.
You want to be clear about your spice level and food allergy before you order.
Andhra food tends to be spicy hot even for Indians. Sri Lankans on the other hand would be happy!
Irani chai, chikoo shake and badam milk are house special drinks.
Loose prawns fry and Masakali chicken were excellent starters to get a hint of the richness of Nawabi food of Hyderabad.
Right at the outset, Vaishnavi apologized for not having Mandi. This is a Yemeni food extremely popular in the Middle East where meat is cooked underground with mild spices. A long way from fertile Andhra where fiery chilli meets Nawabi spice.
Our biryani choices were Ulavacharu mutton (goat) biryani and masakali chicken biryani.
Both had adequate basmati and meat content. The mutton was milder and the spices sang the culinary tunes. The chicken was cooked to perfection and spice level as expected but pleasant.
I would rate them a 8 of 10 in terms of overall compared to restaurants in India and a solid 9.5/10 in Canada.
You have to finish with the Apricot delight, this in itself is worth a pilgrimage here.
For extensive menu, look up their website dine-in menu.
Vegetarians, children, South Indian breakfast items, Hakka Chinese soups and dishes, this is a cornucopia of food. Hoping to see Mandi soon!
Strongly recommended
We will definitely be coming back soon!
