Had lunch a Nawab in Winston- Salem. Although it is located in downtown Winston-Salem it was very easy to get to and had many parking spots. Very pleasant and friendly staff who were attentive to our experience. Very nice selection of medium spice vegetarian and chicken dishes. Had two appetizers, one cauliflower based and one potato based which were very tasty. Had chicken Marsala and lentil curry. A few orders of garlic naan, which was light and crispy, to round out the meal. Price was $62 for two people and there is enough leftover for another meal. Great experience and recommend.

This was my first time at this place, and I enjoyed my experience. Indian Food is new to me (I know I am late to the party), but I brought a friend who is well-versed in Indian food as my tour guide.
The garlic naan was super delicious, even if a little thin and crispy for my taste. My tour guide claimed that usually naan is much fluffier and more bread-like. They were hard and crispy, more like a cracker? But it’s still delicious.
We enjoyed our meal, but I will say that we were a little underwhelmed. There was flavor, but typically Indian flavors are very strong and these felt very mild and restrained. Maybe it was the dishes we ordered? I got tikka shrimp and she got Matar Paneer. I had a bite of hers, and it was good.
The app we got was good, but I think it would have benefitted from smaller pieces of cheese so they could get more crispy during the cooking process.

Went for lunch and the service was great. The staff checked on us frequently. Asked us if we enjoyed our food and allowed us plenty of time to order. The food was really delicious. My favorite was the goat Vindaloo. It had the perfect amount of flavor and spice. I ordered the onion and paneer stuffed bread and it was so yummy.

Me and friend decided to eat here after seeing all the great reviews. We were greeted and seated immediately upon entering the restaurant. Staff was readily to assist with taking our order, and offering refreshments . I ordered the curried shrimp medium, after I was told by the waitress that medium level is not too spicy at all. I trusted her word and went with it. Along receiving my curried shrimp, that flavor was amazing ! Although I could not even enjoy my dinner because it was extremely HOT. I begged the waitress to exchange my plate for something milder. She refused to exchange my plate and I was told if I wanted to get something else, that I would be charged for BOTH plates. I ended up paying for both plates although I only ate one. I am not very happy about paying for both when I took a suggestion from the waitress and was not satisfied . At any other restaurant if the customer is not satisfied you are usually almost always able to exchange your plate if you are not satisfied. .
The strawberry lassi was great , fresh tasting and super refreshing .10/10.
The vegetable samosas were amazing I loved them! A little kick of spice with amazing flavor ! 10/10
Curried shrimp had an amazing flavor, came hot and freshly served. Although the spice level was hard for me to bare. I couldn’t not enjoy this dish due to the spice level. 6/10
Atmosphere and vibes were welcoming. 10/10

I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner at Nawab. Although I’ve had it to go, this was my first time dining in and I wasn’t disappointed. I was seated rather quickly when I arrived. The restaurant wasn’t busy, but it was also a Monday night. For an appetizer, I shared the coconut shrimp fritters with my friend. They were fine, but I wouldn’t request them again. For entrees, I chose the chicken coconut and my friend had the chicken tikka. We ordered both with level 2 spice but I think when I return, I’d up it because I love spicy food. I really enjoyed the chicken coconut because I love anything coconut flavored and the chicken was very tender. The portions were rather large so depending on how hungry you are, you could possibly share an entree. I also have to mention the garlic naan which was great as expected. The servers were attentive and offered suggestions when I wasn’t sure what to order. I’d definitely recommend Nawab to anyone wanting some comforting Indian food.

I stopped there twice on the way to OBX and this has been one of the very best Indian curry I had in the US. The flavors, spices and quality of ingredients were excellent. I love Indian cuisine and will happily drive extra miles to try restaurants I haven’t been. This one was a great find!
2025 Update : back at Nawab and the Lamb Rogan Josh was out of this world: Deep flavors I never experienced at any other Indian restaurants before. The garlic naan is also top-level! This place is a gem!

The food was out of this world. I’d lick my plate if I could. Other restaurants will charge you the same price for curry, but they aren’t half as good as the curry I had here. Service was excellent and the prices were reasonable. When we walked into the restaurant, it smelled incredible. The decor is modern and cozy. It has a bit of a fine dining vibe without feeling intimidating. I look forward to coming back!
